Kendricks Dartmouth — Restaurant in South Hams

We frequently travel to and stay in Dartmouth and we always try to book a table here. The meals have always been excellent, the service is great and it has a relaxed, welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere. Would recommend for an evening meal as it's lovely!

HOWEVER - we'd seen that Kendricks had started advertising their opening in the daytime, offering coffees. A post on social media picturing a cup of cappuccino suggests this. We generally visit other places in Dartmouth for daytime refreshments but we thought that we'd pay them a visit this time. Upon entering we saw they were not particularly busy, with plenty of empty tables, and we saw there were multiple tables with people drinking coffee. Upon noting to the server that we were only hoping to have coffees we were met with a very patronising and repetitive response explaining that they were a restaurant, not a cafe, and that there were plenty of cafes around that we could go to instead. We were planning to book our planned evening meal afterwards but, because of this poor encounter, we are now less inclined to do so. There are better ways to speak to customers to get a message across! Would advise that you review your social media advertising to ensure you're consistent in what you are advertising and what you are delivering.

Full marks still given because we've been so many times before and thoroughly...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Hidden Gem in Dartmouth – Exceptionally Dog-Friendly and Delicious!

After being turned away from four other venues in Dartmouth simply because we had our dog with us, we were lucky enough to stumble upon Kendricks – and what a fantastic find it was!

Not only did they warmly welcome our dog, but they went above and beyond to accommodate our group of six. The staff kindly arranged tables so we could all sit together comfortably, even offering a chair for our sprocker to sit alongside us (though of course, no food at the table for her – which we wouldn't allow anyway). It was such a refreshing change to find somewhere genuinely inclusive of dogs and considerate of their place at the table.

The restaurant itself was clean and inviting, and the customer service was top-notch – our waiter was friendly, attentive, and genuinely helpful. The food arrived hot and beautifully presented, and everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their meal.

We can’t recommend Kendricks highly enough – a real gem with a welcoming atmosphere, great food, and exceptional service. Dog owners, take note: this is the place to go in Dartmouth!

We booked in advance for 6pm when doors opened, we were 1st through the door, we were shown to table and chap took our order, further customers came and were served their meals... we were still waiting, it was only an observation a lady member of staff, that prompted the chap... they're still waiting for food! He did come to us, and say that he'd 'forgot to put our order through to the kitchen'. He was to be fair most apologetic, and took the cost of my wife's wine off the bill! When the food did arrive, both our meals were fab, and they didn't skimp on the portions. The restaurant decor was quirky... but Tasteful! This was our first meal at Kendricks, and even after this first 'Outing' we would still recommend anyone to go!
