I visited here on September 1st .I was RECOMMENDED by a lady at Bake house when asked if there was a nice cafe near by. I am GLAD SHE TOLD ME ! I rated this place (between 3.5 to ) 4 star ,definitely not 3 star !! The reason why only 3.5 in my opinions is inside of the shop was not well lit ,dimmer light & looked very old !! I prefer bright cafes/ restaurants. And it made me worry if there were molds in the place as it didn't feel that they got good air circulations inside .I didn't see ,or smell molds at all !! The owner was very friendly, got the vibe of more Italianish ,if I am right ...( I love Italians !! ) ,but some might find him a bit pushy ! I DIDN'T !! PLEASE DON'T GET ME WRONG ! And this is not a bad review ,or complain at all !! These are my 1ST impressions of the moment after stepping in .I ENJOYED this tea house & I could see why not only tourists , the locals are loving this place !! It seemed like they were having their cream teas & afternoon tea & enjoying their afternoons ,sparking conversations on their dog's breeds ,etc. !! They were Brits from other regions & I think some were from Germany ?? And locals knew this place !( I asked two more ladies for the directions in the streets ) So I did go to a right place !! Two couples had their doggies inside w/ 'em !!! So, I RECOMMEND this place to DOG LOVERS who take their furry babies everywhere w/ 'em !! I had tea cakes & tea which were very good !! đ I just ate my sandwich an hour before & a pastery & a clotted cream ice cream before going to this place ,so I couldn't eat more than a tea cake or two ,or a scone !! Lol.đ The female staff were also very friendly & polite !! The place was decorated uniquely with TEA CUPS/ SAUCERS HANGING from the ceiling which I LOVED !!! đ The table was clean ,dishes / utensils were ,too ! There was a toilet inside this cafe & it was CLEAN ! I appreciated that ,too ! Lol. Here in L.A.,it's the law that any places serve meals have to have bathrooms/ toilets !! But,I found that's not the case in U.K.,well ,at least in England/ Wales I visited on my trip .I found it very inconvenient. And many public toilet's hygiene grades were B ,or C to my standard !! So,having a clean toilet inside a cafe was a relief !! Again a bit very old one ,but no complain !! If you are looking for a COZY house like atmosphere cafe/ tea room where LOCALS go to HANGOUT at ( which was exactly what I had on my mind !! ),THIS IS THE PLACE !! I am so glad that I did !! As I don't really wanna visit Costa ,or Gregg's all the time while visiting U.K., DON'T GET ME WRONG ,I love 'em !!! They are great & affordable & so convenient that they're everywhere we go there !! But,I'd rather visit family owned business places ,cafes/ restaurants more often to feel really what they're like & what they can offer in foreign countries !! Not big corporation vibes/ things, although I love their modern-day approach & foods / new decorations & furniture / cleanliness & familiarity !! But,why not exploring more to experiencing the local's vibes / IDENTITIES ,so that we really feel like we visited the areas to taste their AUTHENTIC things & their traditions ,customs ,so on !! It's a GREAT FEELINGS to SUPPORT LOCAL ,family / private businesses ,too !!! They are endangered species nowadays !! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this tea house/ cafe !! If you're in Dartmouth, go visit this Singing kettles !!...

We had reason to complain a number of times. The tea cup they gave me was dirty and when the scones, jam and cream was bought out, the cream was very runny, definitely not Devon clotted cream, I tried to stir it thinking it was just the top that was runny only to find a black lump in it. I took the cream up to the counter and asked if this black lump should be in the cream, I was told it was a blackcurrant that had sunk to the bottom! So I went ahead cut into the scone that was still warm only to find it was a bit pappy in the middle. We called the waitress over and asked if the cream should be this runny. At this the manager came over with a pot of new cream which was proper clotted cream with a blackberry sitting on the top and he said it was the supplier that sometimes sends runny cream. Such a rubbish explanation, clotted cream is always thick. It really was in edible and we left half. When I went to the counter to pay the manager asked me if everything was ok in the end and I said no not really my cup was dirty, you saw the cream that was served us yourself and I had to ask for jam. He said I am sorry about that then straight away said to one of the waitresses do their bill and take it over to them. Very dismissive and abrupt. We had been so looking forward to our little treat of a cream tea and was very...
