Sassi's — Restaurant in South Kesteven

Booked this late on Friday, for Saturday night. Our first visit to Sassi's, and a bit worried as there was no issue, plenty of space for 4. We arrived on time and taken straight to our table. The prawn crackers arrived whilst we deliberated over the menu. Written in Thai (with clear descriptions beneath). We had a mixture of starters and main courses, these included, Thai chicken cakes, deep fried crab, Stir fried mushroom with cashew nuts, chicken stir-fry with oyster sauce and of course a Thai Green Curry. Additions of jasmine rice, noodles and stir-fry veg. 4 bottles of London Pride, a G&T and a soda later and we asked for the bill. Under £85, for 4 people including drinks. Unfortunately I was not happy with this much-anticipated Thai place in our town. The starters were so not right - corn cakes are meant to be light, airy and full of kernels of sweet corn. We had some solid rounds of hard dough with some corn. The two sticks of chicken satay came with a sauce that tasted neither of peanuts or spice. I still don’t know what it was. For a Thai place where the sweet chilli sauce is just so insipid that it was inedible - not impressed at all. Whilst my stirfry had some heat and taste, the pool of oil it swam in was enough to make Exxon jealous. The nicest dish was the chicken noodles. This place is EXPENSIVE and it’s not worth it. What an amazing place. Under new ownership. On walking in the staff were very polite, very professional, very cheerful and very welcoming. Chatted to the manager about Thailand. Places visited. Ordered food, which was served quite quickly. The flavours were an explosion of pleasure on your tongue. Amazinging food, full of flavour,and reasonable portions. At a reasonable price.
