First outing to Grantham newest restaurant as a group of six.
We did a mix of starters for the table along with some wine and I could not fault any of it. Absolutely fantastic!
Main courses we all did something different, but everybody rated their mains aswell. Again very enjoyable!
Deserts were all tasty!
Service was excellent, efficient yet very homely. Loved it! The team are great. The timings between courses was absolutely spot on. We didn’t feel rushed, and I think it actually allowed us enough time to gear up for the deserts.
My only minor criticism of the venue, the decor. It’s very bland! The decor does not do the place any justice. Excellent Italian food, nondescript building interior.
Deposit for the table. I’m torn between this, I have no problem with this and I hope it drives down no shows for booked tables, but it may discourage others.
Overall, Grantham has two excellent Italians now, Julianos and Take Italy. Both of which are excellent! Although at Julianos your bill is significantly less.
I highly rate Take Italy, but what am I getting in Take Italy versus Julianos when I am paying significantly more.
Excellent meal guys...
Read moreGorgeous lovely Calabrian Italian family business with fantastic fresh high quality ingredients and beautiful home cooking. If you like your meat, this is the place for you. The steaks look pricey but are ginormous and can be shared between 2-4 people! The risotto was rich and delicious (I recommend sharing). And the Nduja bread dip was sensational. Great portion sizes.
So friendly. Great food. Really tastes of Italian home cooking. The wine offered and suggested was great and paired very well with the meats. And is from their hometown. Great atmosphere (although the lighting could be a little improved! More warm light, less bright white bulbs - I think this will do wonders for the place. But they did say to us that they havnt finished the decor as they wanted to get the place open quickly - this is their first week open so plenty of time for decor...
Read moreWent with a friend on a Friday evening, and was surprised how quiet the Bistro was - but it has only been open a few weeks. Very friendly service, explaining how some of the options are made, and where the wines come from. Food was excellent, we each sampled the other's dinner, and both the Penne Vodka e Salmon and the Risotto Asparagi e Mandorle were delicious. The wines are a little pricy, but our bottle of red was good. The dessert, off the specials board, was to die for! By the time we had finished a large party had arrived, and we thought that the design of the dining area could have done with more soft furnishings, as (although the party were in no way rowdy), the sound bounced off all the hard surfaces and became intrusive. Will certainly return. Note that most meat dishes need to be pre-ordered at...
