I recently dined at Katana after weeks of anticipation for their teppanyaki cuisine. I went with a group of four, and for the three others, it was their first experience at a hibachi grill. I made a reservation online but received a prompt email informing me that my requested time wasn’t available. However, they were able to accommodate us just 30 minutes later, which I appreciated.
Upon arrival, we were welcomed by friendly staff and seated at the teppanyaki grill within just two minutes. We ordered a selection of teppanyaki steak, lamb, and chicken. Our chef, who introduced himself as "V," was fantastic! He made the experience not only entertaining but also expertly cooked our meals.
The servers were attentive throughout the evening, frequently checking in to ensure we had everything we needed. Overall, we had a great time with the teppanyaki grill experience, although we all found the food to be a bit greasier than expected. I was so captivated by the cooking show and all the flames that I forgot to take pictures, but I did remember to snap one when our teppanyaki ice cream dessert was served.
While I enjoyed my time at the restaurant, I think that if I return, I might opt for a regular table instead. With four grills in operation, the atmosphere was lively, but each grill follows a similar routine and shares the same jokes. Once you’ve seen one show, it feels like you’ve seen them all. Overall, it was a...
Read moreWe have visited Katana several times in the past and always had a wonderful experience, which is why we decided to return for the unlimited sushi night.
At first, everything went smoothly – our drinks were served quickly, and we received our soup and sushi platter without much waiting. Once we finished, the plates were cleared, and we ordered a second round: Nigiri salmon for one, tuna for one, and sashimi for another.
Unfortunately, this is where the experience went downhill. We waited over an hour and a half for the second round to arrive. To make matters worse, the sashimi came out cooked, when sashimi is supposed to be fresh, raw fish. We pointed this out to the waiter, who apologized and replaced it, but even then, it took another 30 minutes.
Overall, both the food and drink service were very slow, which was disappointing compared to our past visits. When paying the bill, the waiter asked if it was our first time (despite us having visited for years), and then loudly said, “See you next Tuesday.” We weren’t sure if this was a sarcastic comment or just a misunderstanding, but it left us with a negative impression as we left.
We hope the restaurant improves its service, because in the past we’ve really enjoyed...

What a place! New fave restaurant right here 🥰 I’m so sad it’s not closer to home (we came about 15 miles based on a family recommendation having had a recent 21st birthday there).
Beautiful food, fresh, so tasty, light and piping hot! Exceeded all of our expectations. Champagne cocktails, Tokyo coffee and ferrero roche ice cream. Lovely atmosphere, clean, chilled, funky toilets, and the staff were all so attentive on a really busy evening, friendly and welcoming from the second we walked in. Very passionate about the restaurant, their food and your experience. The restaurant was full of large groups and still we felt like we were the only ones there, miso soup to the table as an appetiser whilst we chose our starters, personalised recommendations based on what we had eaten elsewhere before and our mood. Hot towels at the end and just such a lovely feel. This is my perfect restaurant. Thank you all. We dined on a normal table from the normal menu as we have had tepinyaki many times before in the UK and abroad and just wanted our own space and table tonight. First visit and we are already sharing and telling all of our friends and family. We will be back for sure 💓 thank you all...
