Disappointing visit, sat on what can be described as an old park bench, food served in cardboard boxes (?) the sides sour cream, salsa etc were served in tiny receptacles like you get in Mcdonalds. Chilli potion small - and seemed burnt on edges-but with a lot of rice. We ordered a side of large chips which were large in name only.Cutlery was not disposable so don't understand why food was in cardboard when the curry that was served on another table came in a plate? I assume the cutlery goes in a dishwasher so why not give everyone a plate. For consistency should all be one thing or another?I realise it is easy to dispose of the cardboard but when the waitress wants you to pick up the food from the tray when they "serve it' but then comes along and removes it themselves i really don't understand the process ?When went to pay was charged for 4 meals - there was 2 of us and no discount applied. They did sort this out but it appeared there was issue with the billing of the chilli...hopefully others who had this did not have same issue or did they notice? I appreciate that times are challenging and new ways need to be adopted but I had a McDonalds which cost 1/3 of the price - it was served in cardboard, i sat on a park bench -outside the store- I had more chips- they were large and to be honest that was money better spent when you compare the two experiences. I know the pub is popular but sometimes a little honesty is needed and don't always...
Read moreWe decided to go to the Green Dragon as we were staying nearby for our 15th wedding anniversary. The website made it look just right for the type of meal we would normally enjoy. On the positive side, the Dragon burger was lovely and the chips were great... thats all of the up side I'm afraid 😔. On the down side.... inadequate parking (had to park two streets away), we were seated in a very dark corner (not romantic... just dark), no menus, just a large blackboard propped on a nearby table. Very sticky tables which resulted in my wife's new top getting ruined with grease stains. Waited 25 minutes for a drink order... which only arrived after reminding the staff. And we were never even offered a desert menu. We are not complainers and my reviews are always fair, but until there are some significant changes at the Green Dragon (more staff / a hygiene review and some staff training) i could not possibly recommend it for an evening meal location. Its probably OK to pop in for a drink... but that is it. Sorry for the poor review but this was...
Read moreVery pretty place , friendly service and helpful staff. Large portions on the sundays roasts. The only thing letting this pub down was the inconsiderate dog owners who did not clean up after their dogs in the gardens. Unfortunately a staff member stepped in one whilst we were eating our meals.. not a pleasant experience. ( awful smell ) To their credit they did as good a job of cleaning up as they could in one areas, Unfortunately not in another area where more dog mess had been left. The staff are rushed off their feet serving and delivering food and bar and drinks orders are in a queue due to social distancing rules. We are happy to wait as it keeps everyone safe. Sensible people order their rounds upfront for their time at the venue. Although wasps were an issue. I would go back when next in the area but if there was still an issue with dog mess around tables you eat at, I wouldn't go there again. Maybe they should provide complimentary dog poo bags and put up a few signs for...
