For the avoidance of doubt… I am not related to, a friend of, nor paid by, the owners of this astonishing little bakery!
So, here’s the tale: Way back in the 70’s when I was a young man all afire with zeal to convert people to the joys of Real Ale, a ‘little ol’ Norfolk bor’ told me, sadly, that what the ‘Campaign For Real Ale’ really needed was a companion organisation - ‘The Campaign For Real Bread’! Now as a Liverpool Lad who’d been brought up on slabs of mass-produced, plastic-wrapped, steam-baked, Sunblest best, heavily plastered with cheap margarine I hadn’t the faintest idea what he was babbling about! Nearly fifty years later, finding myself surrounded by a plethora of Craft Bakers producing perfectly wholesome and healthy loaves I finally understand what that sadly wistful old man was trying to tell me, all those years ago, about the importance of ‘real bread’! Bread truly is ‘the Staff of Life’ - a sturdy and very necessary support to help us along on the daily journey; and this is an essential truth that’s well-understood by Clare, the highly-skilled and well-attuned baker at Loaf in Wymondham. Her sourdough loaves are quite simply, bread the way it was always meant to be - carefully hand made with equal amounts of love for her ingredients, respect for her customers and pride in her own considerable skill. The bread for sale here is better than anything you’ll buy in a supermarket, even Waitrose, and looking at the ingredients and the lengthy preparation it’s very definitely a long-way better for you too! In a world where big companies will often put profit before people and offer you a product that is anything but wholesome and nothing like everything it could or ought to be, here in the heart of Wymondham you’ll find a small family business that provides a wholesome and healthy loaf that tastes utterly superb… and all for a perfectly proper price that allows a craftsperson to make a deservedly decent living . What’s not to...

My favourite loaf is the seeded sourdough which is so delicious I gave up making my own bread long ago. The focaccia is amazing - light and so tasty; I highly recommend it. Anyone visiting Wymondham should definitely visit and treat themselves to...
