Kaspa's Didcot — Restaurant in South Oxfordshire

Have been here twice now. The first time the card machine broke and they needed everyone to pay cash. They didn't tell us until we got to the front of the cue and then had to debate whether we could order and then go an get cash. They did let us in the end and we decided to try it again (figuring that card machines break, and this wasn't too big of an issue). Unfortunately, when we went for my dad's birthday it was so much worse. They weren't busy at the time and we ordered a sundae, 2 slices of cake and chocolate covered strawberries (so nothing complex!). The sundae came in about 10 minutes but AN HOUR AFTER ORDERING nothing else came (despite there being TONNES of staff). We went to complain (along with every other table in there) and the manager was too busy to see us (making waffle mix apparently) so 15 minutes later (after having made more mix) he refunded for all except the sundae "which came on time". Meanwhile the other staff told us of their relief that our desserts "weren't on their station" which presumably means that the staff cannot work together at all and I guess those responsible for cake and...

Desperately needs a manager. Okay, firstly, the desserts were very tasty. Sadly, that's where the positives finish. We went in fairly early so it definitely wasn't busy and seemed fully staffed. Yet, ordering took 10 minutes due to a lack of competency on the till. Ordered 3 Sundaes and 1 waffle dish (£28) The waffle arrived after 10 minutes, the Sundaes took a further 15 minutes. The box of cutlery placed on the table when we were sat down contained no spoons! Watching the staff making the Sundaes showed they clearly still need training. Constantly getting in each others way, shaking excess ice-cream on to the floor, adding the sprinkles 'in the air' before serving so again all the excess goes on the floor. But worst; they all wear gloves to scoop the ice-cream then take them off just before serving which is when they add the wafer or chocolate straws with bare hands. Lastly, unless they had toilets upstairs, there is only 1 unisex cubicle which is appalling for a restaurant this size. Close for a day and...

Let's start off with the positives...food tastes amazing, let's get that right (we both had a cookie dough dessert, one milk chocolate and one kinder Bueno version). Drinks - we had an after eight milkshake which was very refreshing and tasted as expected, however our second milkshake (galaxy flavour) severely lacked any sort of chocolate flavour to me, maybe it would be worth doubling up on the chocolate for that milkshake. The restaurant is new, so of course there is some teething problems...long queues, inexperienced staff and so on...these are to be expected. What I don't expect however is to find hair in my food. This happened to me yesterday. I suggest maybe hair nets for all staff working with the food? As this wasn't in practice on my last visit. My dessert was refunded and a new one was brought relatively quickly upon complaint. I'm sure this place is destined for greatness, just not quite yet. I recommend trying this place in 2-3 months once the teething...
