Used the pub as I was too early for train. Both members of staff were very polite & pleasant. Beer appears well kept, nice taste at £4.40 for a pint, not bad price. Unfortunately, they have the habit of short pints, even having asked for it to be topped up (picture after top up). The Gents toilets, apart from being very slippery for some reason, could do with some tender loving care (as could the corner of the bar seating area -see photo). The WC door had no lock - not nice sitting on the loo, and someone tries to open the door (see picture) Around 18.45, they turned the lights down - glad I didn't want to order food - couldn't see the menu. After a couple of complaints, they turned them up. The 3rd picture shows the bar - I have included this as so many of the reviews are replied to with "wrong pub"

We (3 adults, 1 teen and 1 child) went this afternoon to the Prince of Wales in Didcot (opposite the train station) and had the worst experience. Drinks, they didn’t have any soft drinks other than appetiser, Fanta and j20 (not even on the tap). Our food took about 40 minutes and was defiantly not worth the wait. Roast dinners didn’t include greens and was not half a chicken as advertised. Chicken was dry. Barely any meat on the bones and the potatoes looked microwaved. The Yorkshire puddings were tiny, the gravy was way too strong and the carrots were dried out, my mum couldn’t eat any of it and I only just managed to scrape some chicken off the bone. After speaking to the server we got it knocked off the total but defiantly will not return.

My husband and I popped in Saturday mid afternoon. Used the app to order food and drinks. Both were served quickly. We ordered the salty beef burgers and they were very tasty. Used the toilet after the meal and was discussed by what I saw. Children's highchairs being stored in their, and they were filthy, old dried on food stuck to them. As you can see from the following pictures; the sink, tap, toilet and floor we're all filthy! Even the first dispenser was hanging off the wall and spilling over the floor. Goodness knows when it was last cleaned in there. The whole pub needs a deep clean and a makeover. I left feeling yuck and won't be returning to that Greeneking!

Venue is lovely and the food was brilliant. However:

On ordering drinks at the bar, the bar was quite busy. Fine. 2 staff members making drinks. Everyone waiting patiently. A member of staff comes behind the bar and in a raised voice says ‘it’s two queues, one for that till and one for the other’ then goes off. We just carried on as normal and ignored him, the people waiting the longest who were stood in the middle were grateful we ignored him!

Our food took over an hour to come out. We would have appreciated some warning or an update as we had a 4 year old and a 1 year old with us who were getting very hungry and very fed up with waiting. A bit unfair to make a 4 year old wait that long.

There was one waitress working very hard but the others seemed more concerned with chatting. When we asked for help, for example asking for dessert spoons we were greeted with smiles. However, my husband saw them clearly say to each other ‘you go over, no you go over, no you’ when we tried to get attention from the wait staff.

If we went back it would be just for drinks and the food service was a bit of a disaster which is a shame.

Oh by the way, the loos...

absolutely dreadful - we eat here almost every Saturday as it is great value and the staff are really great tonight was a total nightmare - we ordered steaks ( as usual ) only to be told afterwards that they had none in - we changed our order to burgers and they were awful !! no mayo, no salad garnish ,no gherkin. the philly burger was almost burnt, raw onions , the eggs had obviously been cooked in dirty oil as they were black etc etc :( to top it all off there was a group of extremely loud football fans - their behaviour was totally unacceptable , offensive chants , swearing and high decibel singing - I did ask the staff to see if they could calm them down as it was ruining our evening and to be fair, two members of staff did go and speak to them , to no avail unfortunately we finished our drinks quickly and left I can understand that the staff were probably unable to do much about this group as there were a large number of them but the whole situation was intolerable hopefully next week will be...

Lovely new decoration at the pub - it has been tastefully transformed so I decided to have my 60th brunch there with some friends on a February Friday morning . Looked lovely when the first three of us arrived, we were greeted pleasantly and I immediately ordered a bottle of Tatti and fresh juice - for us and for when each person arrived. We had been sitting there for about 15 mins and other friends had arrived when we realised we’d not got our fizz or even been offered a coffee. When I asked the waitress where the fizz was she said she thought we’d want to wait until everyone arrived. Then she mentioned that they only had 1 bottle of Tatti which wasn’t all that could but then if I paid £30 more she could get us a cold bottle of Bolle! I won’t go into further detail but despite location and food being great - the level of service needs to be sorted out. The staff seemed confused and really not that well informed. Please do address this as I’d really like The Prince of Wales to...
