The whole pub needs a thorough deep clean. Closer inspection it isn’t clean. The floor around the front bar is caked in dirt around the brass bar. Dust is absolutely everywhere, from the picture frames to the ledges upon the walls. The front window ledges have dead bugs, dust and grit on them and they have smudges all over the windows. The door edges are filled with dirt where dirty hands have pushed them open. The ceiling is… well… I’m sure even the staff can see the problem. The toilets in the front bar are also not to a high standard with a thick layer of dust on the sanitary bin, the soap dispensers covered in gloopy soap and the mirror smeared. The doors and handles to the toilet doors are caked in dirt along with the edges of the tiled floor. And each time I have been the toilets they have been blocked in some way, It isn’t clean. I have came to visit a few times over the last few months and after the 5th visit it was time to write a review, thinking some changes would be made but they haven’t. The food is tasty but it isn’t particularly anything special. The burgers are actually white small for the price and the fact it only comes with chips is quite disappointing for the price. Honey and mustard mini sausages just taste of honey - no mustard. The drinks are one of the highest in Thame and considering the service is quite distant and not very friendly, you’d expect a premium setting with premium drinks and food. The garden however is great and a good size. Nicely maintained. Love the atmosphere and choice of music but the cleanliness lets it down.
Update: Visited once more after quite a long time of not going here and can confirm that it is still exactly the same. No change to the cleanliness, service and food. Just to prove the lack of cleanliness - the white doors in the back bar which staff come in and out of has a thick layer of black dirt along the bottom of the door which is where most likely a mop runs along the bottom every...
Read moreThe vegetarian and I had ventured out, masks packed, ready for some treasure troving in charity shops. We started off in Thame. After a mooch about this lovely Oxfordshire town we got a bit peckish and queued (as required) to be seated. We opted for outdoors, the sun was out after all. The menu isn't extensive, but I would suggest on the evidence of our meal, it's all top notch. The vegetarian was feeling saucy so had a white wine spritzer and I had a guest Pale Ale which was delicious. Food wise we both opted for burgers. She went with Spicy Bean version and I couldn't see past the Figg Double cheeseburger, with extra Jalapenos. Honestly, perhaps we haven't eaten out of late but we both felt these were full of flavour. Chips were included, with the option of thick or thin. All in all, a cracking pub lunch which I...
Read moreMost appalling customer service I have ever received in a pub. Me and my friends were kindly shown to a table at 7pm on a Wednesday. Once on the website and ordering desserts we were rudely asked by a different waitress to present id. One of our party didn't have id on her but we told the lady that we were only ordering desserts anyway. Despite being surrounded by families with children we were asked to leave the pub. May I reiterate, we were kicked out of the pub at 7pm for ordering desserts. Don't take your custom here unless you want to be rudely interrupted by the waitress halfway through your order. (P.s. our initial waitress who showed us to our table seemed more experienced and was friendly...
