BEWARE OF THIS PUB! Been to this pub on several occasions as a paying customer, recently parked on the carpark to nip into the Co-op next door as they had no room on the carpark. A week later was hit with a £55 fine for a 2min stop on an empty carpark in the middle of the day. Not just the pints that are expensive. Lost any future trade from me and anyone else I have told this to. Like vultures waiting with a camera to take a photo of any vehicle thats stopped for more than a minute. Shameful!

As I stated I have been to your establishment on numerous occasions in the past, quite often with work collegues. My vehicle has been parked on the carpark on numerous occasions as a paying customer. You choose to not believe this...wouldn't of expected otherwise.
'Our hundreds of customers are delighted they can park'...I understand your points in regards to the carparking situation and I would be the first to admit it was an error of judgement on my part, but the point being your hundreds of customers were not trying to park up on this particular day at the time in question...it was empty!! I must of really caused you a significant loss of business for the 2 minutes I was there. You state your customers can park '(even if Just going to the shops!)' How do you know they are customers? I have been, even if you choose to not believe me, but I am not allowed to do this, do you have a minimum spend policy to be classed as a genuine customer?
'If you’d advertise your address it would be useful for other people to know then can leave their car on your drive if they’re local and need to park.'....not really the same. If it was, I most certainly wouldn't charge £55 for 2 minutes!
You have a choice to use your discretion as to whether to get your camera out on an empty car park or to even pop your head out and give a friendly warning and advise that there is a free carpark nearby, or God forbid do nothing. I suppose I have a choice to drink my 'half of cordial' elswhere and not recommend your establishment to anyone else.
I will let others make up their minds after they have read your responses to other previous comments as to what kind of establishment you run. Good to see community spirit is still...
Read moreMy husband & myself visited The Black Bull of Pewortham for a relaxing drink & were greeted by friendly staff from the onset. We registered with, Track & Trace in the doorway entrance then once inside this quaint little bar, we were asked to show we had registered with Track & Trace then shown to our socially distanced table where we were told a member of staff would be over to take our orders soon. We felt very safe, the bar was extremely clean & very warm & cosy indeed. Hand sanatiser is available on every table. The landlord/landlady were very cheerful & continually checked we had everything we needed. On using the washrooms, the landlord/landlady checked mens/ladies washrooms to makesure no-one else was in so they were socially distanced safe to use. There is a large beer garden to the rear of the bar which has a small, heated covered smoking area & a larger open area with plentiful benches, again, socially distanced. The beer garden is very colourful & inviting. The prices are very reasonable & I must say, if you get the chance, definitely...
Read moreHave lots of good words and praise for this brilliant family run pub. Situated in the lovely heart of Penwortham, The Black Bull has plenty to offer. Darts, TVs, beer garden, free pint offers (might still be there, unsure. Was for a dark fruits, buy 1 get 1 free), lovely staff, lovely people. What more could you ask for. Pints, for me, bit on the high side, but the atmosphere makes it more than worth it. Car park to the side of the pub and another car park the next street over. You'll definitely enjoy your time at...
