Our local park we've used for 10 years for family and dog walks. Well kept by the very active Friends of Hurst Grange Park, there's always evidence that working parties have been and attended to different areas. Responsible dog owners as a rule, a good place for regular walks. Bring your wellies in wet season to give you more range to explore. Playground is well maintained and popular. Sometimes a few older kids on the swings at dusk and very occasionally a small group smoking weed near the ponds on the other side of the park in the summer holidays but nothing menacing. There's a field by the play area where you can play ball games / frisbee / fly a kite etc. Nearest local loos would be Booths supermarket a short drive or 10...

My family fought in the late 60s early 70s to keep fields adjacent to the grounds of what was the judge's house, Hurst Grange, the stable block remaining, (the house was demolished 1926ish when Preston Rural District Council took ownership of that land), and the coachman's House on Hill Road, the fields south of Hurst Grange, north of the Preston Southport railway line. There were plans for building all over those fields. All the green space in Penwortham was being devoured for housing as now exists south of what was that railway line and all the way from Broad Oak Lane to Howick, and many other fields in Penwortham. The open space is INVALUABLE for the community to enjoy particularly in lockdown. We'll done Daddy...
