Annies Cafe — Restaurant in Southampton

It's all about expectations really. It's a greasy spoon diner that serves all-day breakfasts and fry food. We weren't particularly greeted in any great friendly way. The staff were all crowded in the cooking area which is the customer service area as well where the till is. One member of staff was on her phone, another was eating and drinking while working. The most conversation we had with staff was "that costs extra" and "that's an extra £1.40" etc when deciding on drinks. We sat down to await our food. Most of the place is clean and presentable enough. The cutlery was presented at tables stored in washed up baked beans tins which were dirty in the bottom. The radio was quite loud but we were sat pretty close to the till. The food arrived. Servings were generous and good value but our orders were confused so we had a bit of food swapping between our plates. Great quality food in general but hash browns were slightly hard and a lot of food was drowned by the juice from the cooked tomatoes. In short, we were well fed for a good price but don't expect too much in smiley customer service and...

Basically they didnt want cook food that is on the menu (pancakes) at 11.30am . I presume they wanted to concentrate on breakfasts only , leaving me with a very disappointed little 7yr old girl . C'mon Its on the menu guys 👎. ..........................UPDATE ! thanks for the quick response, i fully accept your apology, i now understand fully the situation , i just wish it had been explained properly at the time . You provide good food at good value for money prices and i will continue to use your great establishment . I have now upgraded you to a 4 star ⭐⭐⭐⭐rating .regards Barry . Good place for a builders breakfast, its a typical greasy spoon that serves food quickly and in good quantity.

Coffee is great and there is a good selection of juices in the fridge as well.

The menu is extensive and will cater for you no matter what you want in your breakfast. you can also build your own breakfast.

I would prefer to have an option of some premium sausages but thats my preference.

It gets busy but there is never a long wait.

Seating is ok for a quick visit and clean so thats a bonus compared to some other cafes locally.

All round, good grub, good...
