We had high hopes for this hotel as we had an incredible meal for our first anniversary a couple of years ago so we were very excited to have a full day and night there.
However it was a let down from the first 5 minutes we drove there and were told it was complimentary parking there was no spaces at all so we parked next to one of the cinemas close by and paid for 24 hour parking. We got asked about our car and my partner by this point was a bit cheesed off so he said he would leave it where it was. I think they may need to mention in the correspondence that you can drive upto the door and they will sort parking for you. It would save a good 30 mins trying to find somewhere to park.
When we checked in we were told there was complimentary gin and sherry in the room which was a suprise. We got to the room though and there was 2 decanters one of which had a small amount of sherry in and the other had a drop and I mean a drop of gin in it.
It is a good place for food if you don't mind spending a fair chunk of change, the food was well cooked and presented beautifully, however the bottle of wine we ordered with dinner went through both of us and we spent most of the evening drinking as much water as we could get to stop feeling sick it gave both of us incredible stomach ache (exactly what you want on your anniversary)
The rooms let it down the most for me as it was incredibly noisy most the way through the evening until about midnight ish the feather pillows and duvet was too much for me as I'm allergic and ended sleeping with mostly nothing which was ok as it was extremely hot.
The air con was a god send but you need to have it on constantly or you will boil, it could do with having a bit of ventilation from the windows as the air con being on constantly does dry your throat out.
The breakfast in the morning was awful. We ordered the equivalent of a full english however my partner didnt get a sausage or tomato with his which was strange as mine did and the majority of it was hard (left under a light jobby) The 2 pots of yoghurt they gave us wasn't very good as one was full the other was half full and it had curdled. The orange juice had a strange taste to it and the tea was luke warm at best. We ordered it to the room so we understand it takes a while to get round we would hope it isn't served like that in the restaurants.
Overall I don't think the price they charge for the room...
Read moreThis hotel is stunning, not only does it look good but inside is amazing from the food to the staff. Only stayed here for one night as a celebration for my mum 60th birthday (parents have stayed here 3 times and loved it)
Rooms are good size, air conditioning, great views of the harbour. Quiet and luxurious.
Bathrooms are modern, easy access wet rooms.
Deluxe rooms had complimentary sherry, gin and water. There is a mini bar too for an extra charge and free tea and coffee. Coffee was delicious.
TV was good size easy to use, good choice of channels
Wi-Fi excellent service althought out the hotel
Now the bed! The best sleep in town you will ever get. It's massive. You have to jump on it. So comfortable I could stay in it all day.
They have 2 restaurant Jetty and harbar. I havent ate in the Jetty but my parents have though expensive but you do get great service and food it prefect. We had a night cap after our celebrations, comfortable seating area, wonderful staff and good choice of cocktails and gin
Harbar has a great up beat environment. Great view for the top of the harbour. Can get quite busy so must book a table. However, i would give a suggest that as guest of the hotel it was difficult getting a comfortable table at first, as most were reserved. It would be good to have a time reserved from so that we could sit at that particular table till this time. As most tables areas were empty for a long period of time, while we were only there are an hour or so. There is a good choice of food, great Service and staff were very friendly and helpful.
Spa was lovely though the pool small so can get slight crowned if there is too many people, relaxing and again staff lovely too. On the side there is a small spa cafe too.
Breakfast in the morning was Continental self service was lovely relaxing and good choice of selections as well as fresh hot food to order which was delicious
This hotel is so so good and the staff were just amazing. We were even able to book a free taxi service to take us into town!
There just go above and beyond and made our night so so special. Massive thank to Mim front desk manager and all the staff especially our driver Darren. I would highly recommend this hotel and I hope to stay here...
Read moreThis is a strikingly designed hotel in an attractive marina setting within walking distance of the town centre and with some nice bars and eateries close by. There are a lot of things to like about the hotel and a few things that let it down! The position, design and rooms are very good indeed. As are the staff who were universally friendly and efficient. The first major irritant was the electronics. We were there for 2 nights/3 days and we had problems with the electronic locks (on the corridor and room access) and getting the lights to turn off every day - despite repeatedly reporting this to reception. The lighting problem ruined both nights sleep. The second issue is the food. We went to celebrate a special birthday and had booked into the Jetty restaurant, which is part of the hotel for the big day, but unfortunately it had to close due to covid staff shortages. This meant our booking was transfered to the HarBar restaurant on the hotel's top floor. It's a great location with a great cocktail bar and views of the marina. The menu sounded great, but every time we ate there (you eat breakfast here too and we had dinner both nights) there was something wrong with the food that just shouldn't have been - crispy duck salad with cold hard duck, bass on an enormous field of shredded tasteless greens, ribeye that hadn't been seasoned, vegetarian sausage that had been so overcooked you could use it as a raw plug. The kitchen team are obviously working really hard, probably extra hard with the Jetty being shut, but something was definitely wrong with the quality control. The result really detracted from the birthday experience. Would we go back? Surprisingly maybe, but I might not be so keen to eat in, which is a shame, because the restaurant position, views, staff, cocktails etc were lovely. It was just let down by the food being sub standard. We've eaten in a lot of places where, irrespect of price, we've had stunning food, but this wasn't one of them. We might just have been unlucky, or it might be a product of the times, but it felt more like there wasn't enough emphasis on the flavours, or passion...
