We came to “Massala” with my husband and friends for a dine in. We had a wonderful time. Our friends highly recommended this Indian cuisine. It’s not like me to forget to take photographs of what we ate, our company was terrific. We all decided on the buffet option which they do on Mondays and Wednesdays. Comfortable seats. You can tell the restaurant is popular with the locals. We all had starters: poppadums with a chutney tray (mango chutney, lime pickle, onion chutney and mint sauce). Prawn puri, Butty kebab, shami kebab and a mix kebab. Our mains were: Prawn Dansak, Lamb Dansak, 2 Prawn Mahkani, I think. (I’ll double check and edit this review, if I have to.) Sundries: pilau rices and plain naans. Great range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks on the menu. I loved my coffee floater! Thank you so much. At the end of our meal they offered sambuca shots or baileys shots. Definitely will be back! A relaxing ambiance and atmosphere. The restaurant decoration was sharp and clean. I liked the Southampton theme photography throughout the restaurant. Great range of vegetarian dishes as well as fish (on the main menu), lamb and chicken. Also, we walked in, so they accept walk-ins. Attentive staff. Compliments...
Read moreAbsolutely disgraceful .I would say the WORST Indian takeaway I have ever used. It took over an hour and a half for the delivery to arrive, and by then it was stone cold. Pakoras and onion bhaji's were soggy. The rice was forgotten and not even delivered. The curry was so cold we would have needed to heat it for 20/30 mins before eating! We contacted Masala to complain - their response - we will send you out a new order! Our whole evening had already been ruined by waiting over an hour and half for food to arrive, why would we wait longer! We asked for a refund. Which they would only give to us if they could come and collect the food back, suggesting to me that they didnt believe us. So I bagged the food back up, as was not going to eat it, and have left it on the doorstep for them to collect. Noone did collect it. Would only recommend people to STAY AWAY...
Read moreVery average and not at all authentic cuisine. Obviously catering for the British. The chutneys with the papadoms were insipid and then we had to wait over an hour before our main course arrived, not very warm and served with cold plates. Everything looked the same and apart from the different meat did taste much different either. Watch out for the beer - a pint of Cobra is £5.20 but a couple of our party had halves which cost a ridiculous £4.20 each! I can't even begin to understand that. The staff were friendly enough but paid little attention to detail. All in all a...
