I went here around 6pm on a Friday with a friend, sat inside as it was nice and air cooled as opposed to outside. We ordered a starter, main and a beer each and waited. Notably we marked one item as a starter which was brought out quite quickly, but turns out that meant the kitchen sees the rest as on hold so we had to get asked whether we want it brought out after quite some time, instead of the mains coming out as usual after some time following the starters. The starter was chicken tenders which were notably really good, which is a plus. For my main meal, I was really disappointed. I had the Pulled Lamb Shepherd's Pie, which was served with minted peas and carrot with bits of cabbage. Additionally, we got sides of "Rosemary Salted Skin-on Fries" as well as "chips". This will be important. The peas were hard and undercooked, the cabbage was hard and almost uncooked, and the carrot looked sad and wilted. The Pulled Lamb Shepherd's Pie was quite good, but frankly it's hard to mess up meat mashed potatoes and melted cheese, which did seem like it was just reheated and was quite oily. Note all the images attached are once the food's been sampled. In addition to the miserable vegetables, the "Rosemary Salted Skin-on Fries" had practically no rosemary or skin for that matter, instead looking like skinnier chips. Costing a pound more then the plain chips at £3.95 this was quite poor. The Level Head IPA at a beastly £7 was mediocre, the Guinness was as usual, priced at £5.70. The only truly positive part was the cheesy garlic ciabatta which again, hard to mess up. For a meal for one (Shepherd's Pie, rosemary fries, beer, garlic ciabatta) that costs £30 this experience was quite mediocre. Service was quick and wait times brief, which I attribute to the food being reheated in some way as opposed to made fresh. A positive note is the garden and decour inside is quite nice, music at the table too loud, but they did invite us to partake in a meat raffle for charity joined with Uptons of Bassett which is nice. Overall though, disappointing experience, and not a good showing for Greene King franchise.

We haven’t been to the Bellemoor as a family for over a month now. We are regulars. Yesterday and today we as a family had to spend long days at the hospital so we decided to book to eat there this evening 23rd November. When entering the pub the staff are welcoming and attentive especially as it was very busy this evening. All staff behind the bar and waiting staff were lovely. What let everyone down massively was the food. I usually take pictures of everything but I didn’t on this occasion as the food came out later for myself, mum and dad although we ordered it within seconds apart from my aunts. My steak was a disgrace. Not worth more that a £5 I say!!! I asked for a medium rare it was well cooked and tough. ****I THOUGHT NO POINT TO SAY ANYTHING AS THIS IS SUPER BUSY HERE THIS EVENING***** My mum said her fish and chips her fish was very chewy and hard the peas were not cooked enough and very dry. My aunty had the same as me steak she did not like hers either. WE WILL NOT BE EATING HERE AGAIN!!! Good for an old get together for a few drinks just about!!!

The only disadvantage here is its proximity to the road which makes it a bit noisy, but I knew this when I arrived. All the rest is very positive. I was surprised that I had to order myself at the bar, but that's not a problem as everything was brought at the table. The service was very good as they all gave the impression to be concerned by their job! Another VERY important thing is the food, of course ☺. I didn't taste them but the French/Belgian fries where the best looking I have seen during my whole 3weeks stay on GB: good size, good colour... The 'confit de canard' I had was a real masterpiece of cooking. I would come back to Southampton for this sole reason.

ADDED A LOT MORE PLEASE READ WHOEVER READS THESE FROM THE BELLEMOOR . First time back since i walked out after they took to long to serve me , even when i told someone why i was leaving , they never offered to get me a drink there and then , just appologised and let me leave . Went back because i like the pub service was good and a cheerful smile so it was good this time . I have recently visited the pub for a pint it seemed friendly ok atmosphere , i stood at the chatting to people , the staff seem friendly enough , the revamp looked really good loads of tables for eating was going to take my wife for food at a later date , visited the Bellemoor i chatted to some of the staff and stood at the bar which i was assured was ok , i smile a lot these day for a good reason but not sharing here , i enjoyed seeing more and more i presume were students , it was very busy watching the staff serving beer non stop for must of been over a hour , they did really well to cope , i also was watching the sport on tv , anyway they looked after me to which i was impressed with , but i must of overdid the smiling to myself , because i presume he was a manager came to me and said your smiling is unsettling our bar staff , i said i am not allowed to smile , puzzling i smiled at there big lady boss the week before she did not seemed bother , just before young manager came to me with the complaint , i had asked him if i was still ok standing at the bar he said it was ok ? I drank my beer dear beer at that £5.80 and left . I decided i will go back and keep smiling , i wonder if they have barred me for smiling , perhaps my face don't fit or they are taking it personally? Let me know Mr Manager , i am sorry...

I hate to give bad reviews but this was truly horrible.

My mum and I went for a Sunday roast, we started by ordering our drinks (a pink mocktail and I had a ginger beer) we'd asked for Fentimans Ginger Beer (which was on the menu) and were given a tiny mixer bottle of schweppes ginger beer, which is just full of sugar and totally different to Fentimans. The pink cocktail my mum had was very sweet and unpleasant as well.

The food was the biggest disappointment. It came out far too quickly which already was a worrying sign as it meant none of it was freshly prepared. I've worked in kitchens and understand things to have to be cooked in advance but to not even make fresh veg?

The potatoes were lukewarm and like cardboard, the turkey was mushy and watery, the carrots were soggy and obviously frozen, the only thing that was half decent was the tender stem broccoli. We didn't have the cauliflower cheese, sausage meat stuffing or the Yorkshire puddings because we're gluten and dairy free (I'm glad we were on this occasion!) and the gravy was definitely not made in house, its come straight out of a packet/bucket.

Neither of us could finish our meals it was absolutely disgusting and one of the worst meals we've had in a long time.

The staff we pleasant enough except for when I asked for a straw (the man serving said we stopped doing them a while ago "cus save the turtles and all that" but when I asked if they had paper straws he just said "no we don't".

Not the staffs fault the food is such bad quality but will definitely not be coming back. Sad because I'd walked past there a lot and...
