The Cafe at The Hawthorns — Restaurant in Southampton

Unfortunately had a disappointing experience at the hawthorns today, ordered an ice cream, all to realise it was very soft, sloppy and half melted the ice cream chiller needs checking as noticed most of the ice had melted and isn't being kept cold enough to the standards it should be , when this was mentioned to a staff member had a very negative reply, the woman refused to change the ice cream which i payed £2 for and was very rude, her reply was "I'm on my break now" I'm not changing it ! And argued the fact that there wasn't anything wrong with the ice cream chiller. Very disappointed with the service i received and the ice cream, won't be returning to this café again. And will be taking this up...

We go here most Saturdays after Parkrun. It used to be great, but when the new provider took over, the service instantly got worse. It is awful. They try not to bring food and drink to your table, preferring to leave you waiting at or shouting out from the counter instead. The staff don't know the pricing and frequently mess up payment, they don't say hello or smile, and they regularly don't bring cutlery or sauces to the tables in the uncommon event that they do bring food out. It could be a very nice cafe if it was run with more care and attention to...

Enjoyed a lovely pot of tea and a toasted tea cake, served by friendly staff, sat outside on the deck area and watched a mother duck with duckling hunting for insects, also got scrutinised by a very large Robin (which made my day) and all with a tuneful background noise of wild birdsong. The facilities were absolutely spotless and the ladies toilet was bright and airy and smelt fresh and clean. A great pit stop on my walk...
