Me and two friends visited this pub recently we ordered two of the same drinks and only one came out we then asked the waitress for another and showed her the receipt, she returned with another drink. Fast forward to two days later we return to the pub (this pub has a lovely garden and lovely well mannered bar staff) we have had about 3/4 drinks between us at this point and the same mistake happens again as the app and receipt printer must have a fault. The older lady which we presume was the landlady brings out just the one drink, we explain it’s meant to be 2 and she says no it’s come through as a double so that’s what you’ve got. After rechecking the email, we call the bar girl over, who was lovely and very polite & she explained she would go and try to resolve the issue. She came back with another glass and said that she’d been told by her manager that we had to split our double drink in to two cups. Obviously this was ridiculous as we had clearly paid for two drinks as shown on the email receipt, we politely ask to speak to the manager/bar lady. After 5 minutes, she comes out and explains we were right and the receipt had ‘printed out wrong’ and we did actually order two singles.. but she’d given us a double now & a glass of lemonade so she was not going to resolve the issue and we still had to split the one drink (we’d of been happy to return the double drink she had wrongly made for the two singles). As we then stated again that this was not acceptable she stormed back in to the bar before we could finish our sentence and sent the bar girl out with the other drink we had paid for and she also told her to tell to us that we had to leave after we had finished our drinks. We are all polite, well mannered girls and at no point during this whole situation were any of us rude so we were so confused as to why we were being asked to leave. When one of us went in to confront the landlady and ask why we were being told to leave because the app had come through wrong? She disappeared behind the bar and said she didn’t want to argue. Seems like she just couldn’t own up to the fact she was in the wrong. Shocking customer service. From the second we walked in on both occasions the woman seemed to have an attitude with us all. It’s a shame, as we live close and all said that we would have definitely made this our regular. Luckily there’s quite a few other nice...
Read moreAs pubs are opening outside today, we pre-booked a table here and headed over on our extended lunch break. We were told to order on the app, so we ordered an English breakfast and a pizza, plus beers. The beers came out after 40mins and then when it was approaching 50mins, we asked the lady with the American accent how long our food was going to be as we were on an extended lunch. She came back and asked for our order number again, as there was no sign of the order going through to the kitchen, even thought it was already paid for and we had the order number. Eventually, she came back a third time (this is now 1 hour and 20 mins later after the order) & said it’s just being plated up. Anyways, fast forward to 1 hour and 38 mins later – I asked for a refund when I next saw her as my lunch break was almost up & knowing that we had been waiting for a while; could have prioritised bringing it out, especially as it was just being plated up 18 mins previously. We got the refund back for the food, but not the beer obviously. I fully appreciate it is the first day that pub gardens have opened so there is naturally going to be some slack, but not 1 hour and 38 mins with no food and no apology. It’s such a shame as this pub has so much potential and I have heard some good things about Simone the landlady (it wasn’t her that was serving us & we didn’t see her), so I’m hoping this is just a one-off with the service & food and app issues! This is purely just a heads-up to anyone else that may want to pop over on their lunch break and eat here as I was very disappointed to be going back to work hungry after looking forward to some amazing pub grub for months. The photos here are showing the outside table set up, some are with heaters and shelter and some are without. Edit: My other half (who had a little bit longer on lunch than I did) said the lady did come over and apologise just before he was finishing his...
Read moreThis was the worst pub I’ve ever been in England and the worst experience!!! We’ve been there 2 groups of people ( Romanian ), to watch the football game and some of them order pizza to the table , these guys said that wasn’t the first time when they saw many people ordering food in there. The waitress came at a some point saying that it’s not allowed to order food, they get it , said sorry , but after 5 mins aprox she came back and said that we have to leave !!! All of us .That it’s the policy of the pub and we’re not allowed to order something else or to leave. To mention that was Romania -Belgium game , many of them wearing t-shirts with our country logo. We’ve tried to explain to her that the second group didn’t even know each other , and they didn’t order anything. In the end she didn’t want to serve us anything, almost 15 people that had nothing to do with the first group who ordered. However, that’s not the point. You cannot kick out every Romanian person because maybe we said hi to each other, you can’t discriminate the people in this way. They turn off the tv in the middle of the game , who is doing something like that ? Was enough only to warning the people and that’s it . Why you have to ask everyone to leave ? Because that pub it’s discriminating the people and was the worst rasist experience ever. Please If you’re not British, don’t go there. cuz one of them said to the bar to one of that guys that he it’s not British and it’s in our group so she will not serve him....
