Stepping into The Red Lion is like taking a delightful journey back in time. This unique, medieval-themed pub offers a one-of-a-kind experience that instantly captivates with its charming decor and immersive atmosphere. From the antique wooden beams to the candlelit tables, every detail has been meticulously crafted to evoke the feel of a grand medieval hall.

One of the standout features of The Red Lion is its impressive selection of drinks. Beer enthusiasts and liquor connoisseurs alike will be thrilled by the extensive menu, which boasts an array of local and international brews, as well as a curated selection of fine liquors. Whether you’re in the mood for a hearty ale or a rare single malt, you’ll find something to suit your taste.

The staff at The Red Lion are as exceptional as the ambiance. Their knowledge of the drink menu is commendable, and they are able to offer recommendations based on your preferences. Their friendly and attentive service enhances the overall experience, making you feel both welcome and well-cared-for throughout your visit.

Overall, The Red Lion is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy a truly unique pub experience. With its medieval charm, decent drink selection, and great service, it’s the perfect spot for a memorable night out. Highly recommended for those seeking a blend of history, atmosphere, and...

The Red Lion has always been one of my favourite pubs, really great historic pub adorned with shields, flags and suits of armour and not forgetting a friendly grey parrot. The food is exceptionally good and reasonably priced. The steaks are cooked to perfection and your plate is laden with chips, salad, onion rings etc. There is a fairly good selection of lager, ales, ciders and spirits. The piped music has been awesome on some of my visits especially in the evening and the pub can be packed to the rafters. During the day the pub can be quiet with a relaxed atmosphere. The Red Lion does look a bit tired in places so if you are looking for a smart clean Gastro Pub don't bother but if you are looking for a pub with character and good food you must visit. A word of warning though - the steps upstairs are steep so mind how you go after a few glasses of your favourite...

This is a beautiful building with a lot of character. Unfortunately my experience was a bad one. While ordering food, I was initially overcharged by the young male member of staff who I corrected on the price. I was then offered cashback and I asked for £20, which was added to the bill, unfortunately I only realised I did not receive this minutes later. When I took this up with the member of staff, he refused to accept this had happened and walked away from me saying, the manager had gone, nothing could be done.

I spoke with the manager and other member of staff who were at least respectful. I would like to think it was an honest mistake but I would urge other customers to be...

Absolutely phenomenal fish and chips in a classic pub setting. The best I have ever had. Crispy coating, excellent fries, peas and slaw/salad. I thoroughly cleaned my plate. A friendly barkeep takes your order at the bar and delivers the food to your table. The setting is quintessential English pub. On our visit, a number of raucous regulars were adding to the pub atmosphere. Lots of drinking, off color joking, laughter, and some vaping, but fortunately no smoking to ruin the taste of the food. Perhaps due to local regulations? Highly recommended.

Came to the UK a third time and am having a microwaved steak and ale pie in a chain restaurant. Reminded me of this terrible pie I had 2 years ago and had to post this review, despite the painstaking strolling I had to partake. Meat was tough and bland. Gravy was more of an inert brown liquid than a sauce meant to have flavour. And I thought to myself while I am eating a microwaved steak and ale pie, 2 years later, that, I would prefer having this than to stomach the one I had here again
