Street Cafe — Restaurant in St Albans

We came in on a Sunday morning for some breakfast and asked to sit inside. We were told to sit inside we required a booking (which we did not have) and that if there was space outside then we were welcome to sit outside. We found a table and were quickly seated and brought menus and cutlery by a polite young lady. After deciding what we would like to order, a waiter came over to take out order, but decided to look at his iPad for 5 minutes and leave. When I next caught his eye, he came over and said he’d come over in ‘2 minutes’. This happened a few times before I eventually got fed up and went to talk to him. He told me they were very busy and they couldn’t take our order outside and we shouldn’t have been seated in the first place. We were then moved inside where our order was taken. After I complained, mentioning I was unhappy and that if they didn’t have space they should have turned us away straight away, I was simply ignored. The food at this place is great, and the young staff our very friendly. Shame that 1 person had to ruin...

Quite a dissapointing full english breakfast. The sausage was anemic and like rubber, and the bacon was tougher than leather and quite inedible, and the smallest ramakin of beans Ive ever encountered. As the waitress cleared our barely half eaten plates, we could see she could sense our dis satisfaction but remained quiet and didnt bother to ask if everything was ok ? Its a shame as Ive had some good breakfasts in this cafe in the past but the standards really seem to have declined. The price was quite shocking too, £34.00 for 2 breakfasts we coudnt eat, with an earl grey, a coffee and an apple jiuce. Thats with a 10% service charge added for the privalage of just having the food bought over to the table, and not a single table check to see if everything was ok. Id of got up and collected the food myself from the kitchen if Id of known thats what my service charge got me and possibly saved myself the 10% charge. Needless to say we wont be going...

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting our family and friends at this lovely street café in St Albans the day before our wedding, and it couldn’t have been a better experience. The team kindly let us rent the entire space, which created such a warm and relaxed atmosphere for our gathering.

They put together a delicious buffet of tapas-style dishes that everyone raved about – there was truly something for all tastes and dietary needs, and the quality was fantastic. From start to finish, the staff were wonderful: so helpful during the booking process, accommodating of all our requests, and incredibly attentive on the night itself.

It made the evening feel really special, and we’re so grateful for their hospitality. We couldn’t recommend this place more highly for anyone looking for great food, great service, and a welcoming venue...
