With hundreds of years of heritage sat in the heart of Hertfordshire St Albans charter market is jewel in the crown. Generations of families have worked on stalls forging relationships with other traders and the customers they call friends. Running the length of the busy high street every Wednesday and Saturday are a variety of stalls each offering a service or selling products that are truly unique.

From the street food vendors to clothes, from candles to art, from hats to toys and every imaginable product you can think of. Each is lovingly made or sourced, unpacked and displayed ready for you to purchase. Many items are made in Britain.

Buying from the market means that you are generally buying from a small business which is great! It means you are helping a family to eat! You are investing in a person that cares! It helps the local economy! You will get the best possible service!

You can literally come to St Albans and spend the whole day looking around the city and the market. If you have never been to the town before you will come for the atmosphere but stay for the friendships that you will create with...

As an artist crafting pictures from old vinyl records we have enjoyed selling our unique art in the St. Albans Charters Saturday market in this charming and pleasant city. We drive some distance every Saturday to be part of the thriving local community. Why? Because its not just a great traditional market, we find other traders helpful and supportive and the mix of locals and tourists a delight. As a business we thrive on customer engagement, discovering what the consumer really wants from our art and this bustling market is the perfect location. With a variety of stalls including seasonal fresh produce, competitively priced clothing, gorgeous jewellery, authentic multicultural street food and unique gifts this charming market is an all-round delightful place drawing people from all over the country to shop and sightsee. Nestled amongst independent stores and high-street retailers, restaurants, bars and an array of services such as hairdressers and beauty saloons the market is a rare jewel within St. Albans and thoroughly worth exploring when visiting this...

I loved the market, each stall is set out with plenty of room to manoeuvre around. I saw lots of people with pushchairs and wheelchairs, they had plenty of room to look at each stall and move around. Lots of variety with the stall holders, who were all lovely and very friendly. The market was very clean even around the stalls selling food. The stall holders take responsibility and look after the market and one another. Stalls from food , crochet, clothing, foam, materials, picture framing ect. We came across a lovely lady selling honey from Hungary , you got to taste all the honey flavours and she explained the benefits of each one.

The market needs to keep going, it's open every Wednesday...
