Shakey J's Family Dining — Restaurant in St Helens

Visited for the first time today with my wife and 3 year old son. Will definitely be visiting again. The food was delicious, genuinely the best salt and pepper chicken and chilli cheese bites I've ever eaten. You can tell that Chris the owner and his other half (apologies I didn't catch your name) have a genuine passion for what they do. Both of you were engaging and made us feel at home from the minute we walked in. This was in between doing the same for other customers. We were waited on by Emily and Abbie who were very friendly and professional, and also went out of their way to speak to us and helped keep our young boy entertained. He was very impressed with his brownie and ice cream also !!! So much so that he has already asked to go back and see Abbie, Emily amd ice cream Thanks everyone at shakey J's for your hospitality... again the food was truly amazing and the staff were even better

This place definitely met my expectations from reading reviews. The staff were a delight and the owner ran everything on point. There was a constant turnaround which they handled excellently.

I really enjoyed the food and it was fantastic value. The big breakfast burger was certainly as described! All pretty standard ingredients but it's cooked really nicely. It did somehow retain a lot of heat though which caught me out, so even after letting it sit a few minutes I managed to burn my mouth quite badly. That's not a complaint of course and with the amount of burgers I've eaten I should know better!

The chicken strips were great. Lovely crispy coating and I loved the pairing with the BBQ dip, my goto sauce.

The menu is massive so there's something for everyone. Highly recommend the place, especially for the owners who clearly put a lot of passion into...

Super accommodating staff with very friendly , happy attitude. All seem very pleased to see you as soon as you walk in.

Place is clean and fresh with some bench seating, some chairs and tables for 2 or 4 people (mostly 2s) and limited outdoor seating. A lot of Super Mario artwork on the walls, but I wouldn’t call it the theme of the decor, it’s very new age diner.

The food was very satisfying. I had a Sweet Chilli Chicken Burger and Sweet Potato Fries. I chose not to get salad on my burger, though the option is available. The fries were crisp and fluffy. The burger was succulent , sweet and spicy with a crisp batter, although it is rather sticky so get a few extra napkins!
