Spice Island — Restaurant in Stafford

Absolute shambles of a place. Firstly trying to place our order was almost impossible because the guy on the phone could hardly speak English so had to repeat ourselves about 50 times, but in the end had to ask to speak to somebody who we could understand and them us. When it come to ordering the food we had to wait for someone to ring us when they eventually did the guy went through the order and eventually got what we wanted, then to be rang again to repeat the order because they wanted to put it on their system. Then after a while was rang to say their card reader is down and put the phone down, even though said we just need to wait for someone to come back to know how to put it through which was fine. Then when they came to the door delivery guy was nice, apologised but then we ended up paying over the phone anyway and after all that charged us £30 with no apology, tryed giving the card details and again guy asked another time as couldn't understand eventually got it and then told us to not return. Disgusting service, will not be returning and I would save your money and go elsewhere...

Been here quite a few times and never had a problem up until tonight. Firstly it took over half an hour for our takeaway to be made. Which is fair enough for a Saturday night but not ideal. When I got home with the food I soon realised that there was only two naan breads when I ordered three. This was along with three of everything else so you would think it wouldn’t get missed. So I rushed back to the shop to pick up the forgotten naan bread. When I eventually got home I opened up the curry and on top of my jalfrezi was I’m not kidding an inch of oil. I mopped it up and placed it on multiple plate along with my rice. The rice soon just became soaked in the remaining oil from the curry. Really did not enjoy it chicken was over cooked and the naan bread was soggy. Don’t think I will be returning. Such a shame cause I have had some really nice meals...

Been going to Spice Island for years and always loved the food... We have tried others in town but they never seem to measure up -for us anyway- It had been almost 18months since last going due to Covid lockdowns etc. so was really looking forward to going and was hoping things hadn't changed, but there was no need to worry... The food was lovely (as usual) And talking to one of the waiters who said the reason why the food here has always been consistent is because the restaurant has had the same owner and chef for the last 12-15 years/possibly more (this is as long as we've been going) the meals are nicely presented, always fresh and really tasty ( not just over poweringly hot - but Tasty ) Would recommend this place to anyone and look forward to...
