We had a delivery to Buxton yesterday having seen the advertising around town. The menu is huge, but it gives little information about many of the dishes. We ordered 3 starters, 3 mains and 2 shakes. We had prawn puree and chicken chat - both really good. The third starter was the salmon dish, which was so dry and overcooked it was inedible. This dish probably works well in the restaurant, but avoid at all costs as a takeaway. We tried mains that were different to regular Indian restaurant fayre that appear on most menus. We wanted the meals to be good, but we were really left wanting. In fairness it could have been wrong choices on our part. The fish modhu was very watery, which again could be because of the delivery time, but the fish was a very tasteless white fish, with no texture left. If you're going to put fish on the menu as a takeaway either ensure it travels, or learn how not to overcook it. Maybe magaw with its earthly taste would work better? The chicken tikka mudhu was met with similar reactions. The comment was that it was like tikka in something similar to Chinese chipshop sauce. The third dish was much more flavorful and went down well - lamb green masala. The rice was good and the nan's full of whatever taste they were supposed to have - garlic and cheese / cheese and mince. The shakes were also good. The delivery is excellent. Slightly earlier than the expected time, food piping hot even after a 20 minute journey and shakes cold. Theres also 15% off in February if you order during the week. Overall the score of 3 is possibly slightly high based on food quality, but 2 doesn't reflect the delivery. We wouldn't order a takeaway from here again as even at a little over £50 being quite reasonable, the food was not as good as anything you can't already get in Buxton. We would try the restaurant when we can dine out again as some of the issues were based on food travelling. I do think that their menu, should it be available in a Buxton restaurant, would make the likes of the Indian Palace, taj and takeaways really look at whether they need to modernise there...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreVisited this restaurant as we were staying over in the area. Interior looks good however the food let it down massively. There was four of us and we were crammed into seating on the side by the bar. I asked for another table they said they didnāt have any other option despite having seating upstairs. We ordered lamb tikka biryani and the lamb tasted off. I spoke to the waiter who seemed like the owner, he offered a replacement which was good of him. We decided to take this away. Iām afraid to say all the dishes we ordered tasted bland. We did ask for mild but not unseasoned. Iām afraid the food quality is not enough for us to return!
Response to restaurant comments: The replacement you offered I asked to take away so therefore I could not have commented on that item since I hadnāt tried it until later on. To be honest that was also bland and in all honesty left me with a very sore stomach. You mention that we told you the meal was fine but how could that be the case when I reported to you the meal served I.e lamb tikka biryani tasted off to which you offered a replacement forā¦.this review is not meant to be a slanging match between a customer and the restaurant but to serve its purpose of offering honest reviews in which case I am so please do not make it such a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe visited for my hubby's birthday. On arrival rhey very kindly put up a birthday balloon and banner for him. Lovely gesture but that was the only good thing along with a polite waitress that served us. Curry arrived piping hot and did look delicious, waitress did her check after just one mouthful so you couldn't really say if was ok. I personally had lamb balti, meat was hard to even cut. And to chew was impossible. My husband had chicken tandoori and asked before he decided was it off the bone and was told yes. His bite was chicken cartridge. Then followed by bone chippings. Needless to say he couldnt eat it. He took a bite from his keema chilli nan and it was coated in chilli powder and again couldn't eat. He enjoys hot food with a kick but this was red hot. The rice wasn't cooked correctly. Chunks stuck together. When we informed the waitress the food was inedible. They said you can have 25% the manger said. Yes obviously we need to pay for the drinks. But paying for food that was eaten is not I would say good customer service. We had high expectations from this curry house. Travelled to go but we won't be repeating this dining...
