Traveled all the way from Portsmouth with my autistic son, who has an impressive obsession with wallabies and knows everything there is to know about their history in the Peak District. We were really looking forward to visiting the Nicholson Museum in Leek after checking online and seeing it was open. However, when we arrived, we were told it’s not open on Saturdays—despite Google saying otherwise.
We did manage to peek into the corridor, though, which was fascinating and steeped in history. The staircase was so grand, I half-expected it to start moving like the ones in Harry Potter.
