Just home from staying in this hotel for 2 nights with my family. To be fair…. It was a place to sleep and it was within travel distance for Alton Towers which was the reason for our stay. However.. I’m only giving it two stars due to the small amount of time we spent in the hotel, it was a disappointing experience from the start. Myself and my husband travelled from Glasgow with our 2 young kids aged 4 and 20months. We arrived later than usual around 8pm and noticed that we could get food from the downstairs restaurant and take it up to the room. We decided what we wanted and I went down to order to only be told that they were too busy and that there was too many orders in… I was then redirected to take aways near by. I had to find somewhere else to feed my kids in an unknown area. 2nd problem we experienced was that we got a knock on our door around 7.45pm the 2nd night regarding a complaint. The complaint was that there was a bit of banging and the guest underneath us was wanting an early night. It was 7.45pm!!! My kids were certainly not bouncing off the walls. The double bed is quiet high for a child, so when we slid off the bed, he made a bit of a bump on the floor. My child is also autistic who can’t and won’t understand to stop these things. The family room wasn’t exactly all that big for him to “quietly” behave. I also don’t understand why they would put family rooms on the 2nd floor for these reasons. 3rd issue.. AGAIN we got turned away at the restaurant on the 2 morning. They were too full! And said you have to book. I was never told this on check in, I was never told this after the first night of being turned away, they said it’s in the email and I have been through it and nothing is mentioned, all that is mentioned is “you may add breakfast and/or a meal deal (where available) when you make your reservation” - that to me is when your making the overall reservation for your stay. THIS BTW WAS ALSO SAID TO ME BY THE MANAGER.
Last but not least… the staff seem really untrained. I felt so sorry for one staff member running the breakfast (that we did get on the 1st morning) She was literally doing it all herself and the other 2 members would disappear for ages. You also have to PAY BEFORE YOU SIT DOWN for your breakfast. So make sure you know what you want. Your not allowed to decide at the table if you haven’t pre booked it or...
Read moreCarpark was straightforward, is monitored by security cameras, the parking charge is very reasonably priced. It has disabled parking spaces very close to the entrance to the hotel. A superb team of friendly and helpful staff, a very warm welcome from the receptionist at the checking in desk. The high standard of cleanliness is clearly evident as well as attention to detail, both throughout the hotel. Our room was immaculate, the same attention to detail and cleanliness. I have limited mobility, so my comments refer to a level access shower, it is of a high standard with grab rails, support leg folding grab rails, support leg folding shower seat. The bodywash/hair shampoo is a easy press box on the wall. The toilet has the same detail of grab rails and support folding grab rails on both sides. The sink too has the easy press soap dispenser. There is extra supply of towels within the wardrobe if needed. Our bed was very comfortable, as were the bucket seat and the chair for use at the multi use table. We didn't use the TV so cannot comment. Very much apprecieated the air conditioning - very simple to control. Our evening meal, We received a warm welcome from the restaurant team, such care and empathy shown of our emotional day in the scattering ashes of my mum, telling of the positive final farewell. The restaurant is airy, exceptional cleanliness and bright. The evening menu has a good array of food to suit all tastes, excellent good value too. The breakfast team of staff gave us such a bright and cheerful welcome. The buffet breakfast was so delicious, such an array of choice and superb value. Most definitely...
