It's not the first time that I've dined here, nor will it be the last. This time I was with my family, that's my 2 daughters, 6 grandchildren, my brother and his wife. My daughter's aunt was also invited together with her sister and her husband. The food, as ever was delicious and plenty of it. We had a number of different main courses off the a la Carte menu. The grandchildren even had starters. I very wisely skipped the starters, I'm not a very big eater, besides, I needed to leave room for one of their fantastic desserts. Well, it was a celebration of the family being together , which is a rare treat. The drinks were excellent, I was drinking Peroni, lovely and cold. The ladies were sampling the delights of a bottle or two of the Pinot Grigio, whilst the children enjoyed a selection of soft drinks. Our waitress was kept busy, the only time that she could have a quick five minutes was when we all had our main courses. Note, these were all served within a minute of each other, no having to start eating whilst one of us was still waiting to be served. No, the service was excellent, with a smile, very good with the children, age range from 7 to 14 years old. You can imagine the questions, what's this like and that? What drinks have you got? What if I don't like it? Honestly, she had the patience of a saint. Nothing was ever too much trouble to her and always she had a smile on her face. Apart from that, she didn't let our tables become full of empty glasses or bottles. They were removed very quickly , no mess, that's exactly how I like it. When we had finished eating, she politely asked if she could begin to clear the plates, when that was done she gave it a few minutes before asking if we required dessert menus, drinks etc. A very definite yes was the answer, in both cases. All in all, it was a splendid afternoon, good food, drinks, wonderful company and excellent service. The bill was very reasonable given the number of meals and drinks. That was settled by myself, very quickly, well I'm not going to let my daughters have to pay for dining with me. Nor was I going to allow my brother or the rest of the company do so. I had a very enjoyable day. The waitress, was amply rewarded for her wonderful service and the manner in which she simply interacted with my grandchildren. I think that they now regard her as one of their best friends. Would I recommend Piccolo Italian Restaurant and Bar? Most certainly, without hesitation. It's an absolute gem of a restaurant, quality food and drink at very reasonable prices. What's more, they don't skimp on the size of the portions, and that includes childrens meals. I've already said that the service is excellent with food and drinks to match. It is a popular restaurant and does get very busy at the weekends, so make sure that you book in advance, if that is the time that you wish to...
Read moreHave just come home from here, a party of 9, we had been to view our son who recently passed and decided to use a voucher from the Gatley festival booklet. We used 2 because there was only 8 per voucher. I pre booked online for 8 then amended it to 10 and explained why we were coming, to raise a glass to my boy, I was offered condolences but upon booking in, first they couldn't find my booking, when they eventually did they couldn't find my amendment. They said they would squeeze a couple more round our table. We asked if we could have seperate orders and bills and they said no it all had to be on one booking. We ordered and ate and the food was nice. They presented the total bill for over £400 and we explained again we had a voucher. They took the bill away and amended it. We asked could they go through the bill per couple and we could each pay on our card. They said no we had to go through it ourselves. 45 minutes later we were still sifting through it unsure what was discounted and what wasn't. They came over several times to see if we were ready to pay and we said no we couldn't make sense if the bill. A young man then came over and left us 3 bottles if liqueres while we were sorting it out. We declined and asked for help and again were refused. I ended up crying, it was a terrible end to a heartbreaking day. Why can they not do seperate bills? We left almost an hour after getting the bill, in floods of tears and of course by this time 1 person paid the bill and we have to go through it all again tomorrow. I will never set foot in this place again, continually sending inexperienced staff out to speak to us and not a manager in sight, this place used to be classy, attentive and caring, how times have sadly changed, Cheadle from now on, Turkish Bistro, who demonstrate all you USED...
Read moreWe as a family decided to book a table for 9 , we had just had a bereavement in the family and thought this would be nice to share our happy memories of our loved one , the restaurant was well aware why we was there , firstly there was a problem with them seating us all ( but the waitress did say they would sort it one way or another and not to worry). Myself and brother ordered our drinks while waiting for the rest of the party to arrive, and paid there and then , when the rest of the party arrived we went to order again and was told we couldn’t order from the bar and pay separately as they was far to busy ,( if they don’t have the staff to serve at the bar then they shouldn’t take as many booking ) they said everything would be put on one bill and we could then work it out between us , this turned out to be a complete nightmare for us ( I would say that it was down to management and not the waitresses) they wouldn’t even come over and help us break the bill down so we could pay per couple by card , this took us nearly 1 hour to try and sort out ( as some of the starters and mains were half price as we had a voucher) this wasn’t sorted and one member of the party ended up paying the complete bill as this was getting so stressful and upsetting for a member of our family , the waiter then came over and said that the manager had sent some free liquor over , trying to keep us happy by this time we had, had the most upsetting hour that spoilt the complete evening , I am absolutely disgusted with the service we got ( again not the waitresses ) from management or should I say lack of MANAGEMENT at piccolos , never ever ever again will we ever have a meal and drinks...
