Beautiful pub with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating including a children’s play area. Beautiful decoration, seating and atmosphere, every bartender, waiter and host was naturally friendly, attentive and made us feel welcome. We were wanting a roast dinner to end the bank holiday and found this gem. For 15 quid you get freshly cooked meats and veg of your choice, we opted for the beef which was tender, juicy and flavoursome. All sides were self serve, freshly replaced and the veg was cooked to perfection, greens were green and not soggy and wilted, an array of sauces and gravies to choose from and a HUGE Yorkshire pudding, served on a hot plate. We were over the moon, will definitely become regulars!

Returned 7/9/2025 Booked in advance for a large party of fourteen people early evening at 6:30 All arrived on time, only two waiting on staff was nearly an hour before our drinks were ordered( some were forgot about) when we finally ordered we were told it would be a 45 min wait for food! As it had got busy! However we could go straight away for the carvery, so needless to say we all ordered carvery. Then told “ actually you will have to wait whilst the carvery is restocked if you are all having that” fine so we wait. So fourteen carveries, one starter, and a children’s pizza.

We collect our carveries,I had the last of the turkey which looked like it had been there all afternoon, the veg was all soggy and limp, and the pigs in blankets had the minimal bacon wrapped around.definitely not up to the usual standard.

The children’s pizza arrives towards the end of us eating them and the starter arrives when we had finished the carvery. Time Now is 8:40pm

If this whole debacle was not bad enough, trying to get the waiting on staffs attention was difficult!ordered more drinks as everyone’s glasses were empty. Finally and this is just as bad as the waiting for food, our plates were cleared when others were still eating! Constantly reaching over past people, asking “have you finished” clearly I hadn’t as I had a knife and forking my hand. Ultimately I was really disappointed with this visit.

Booked a table of eight people today, 29th March after we were seated, then told we needed to move as we had been seated i”at the wrong table, we were then cramped round another small table as the server told us a larger party were sitting there( they were a party of eight as well) we were offered garlic ciabatta as an apology- it was like cardboard. Visited again on the 7thJune and a much more pleasurable experience.the summer menu is now up and running and there is a lot to choose from!

On to the food, the carvery was very good as was the dessert. All in all very disappointing visit, I booked this weeks ago, having to move tables for no reason was annoying. I don’t like being lied to and being fobbed off with the cheapest thing on the menu...

Booked a table for 6 for my birthday meal, the table was wobbly so we asked to move to another table which was ok to do as long as we were gone in 2 hours. Which we knew was doable. Sadly, starters took over 40 mins to arrive and when they did we had to wait on 2 to arrive which took an extra 5 mins. We had empty glasses and not once asked for more I had to get up and order, We then waited an hour and 40 for our mains which weren’t the best. Once again 2 arrived later than everyone’s which was mine and my dads, he ordered a chicken burger but the kitchen made a mistake (blamed the waitress) he tried to eat it but could tell he wasn’t enjoying it so I got up and asked for it to be replaced. This was going to take 10 mins at this point we had 10 mins to get off the table, so I finished my cheese pie which was mainly pastry and asked for it to be boxed up. My dad did get a free drink but at £200 I expected better food and experience. Our food was never checked, and it wasn't overly busy, when we got home I asked if everyone enjoyed it. Same comments that chips were dry and food was poor. We sadly chose this restaurant due to it being close and as we were visiting from overseas we didn’t have enough room in the car for 6, I would’ve preferred to spent more money on getting to a better restaurant that we know of. I’m really not a picky person and look the find faults but a few hours like I was up with vomiting, me and my husband shared a starter and ate the same food during the day so know this place made me sick on my birthday. Amazing feeling getting back on a plane with food...

Me and my family (a group of between 30-40) booked this place for a carvery and drinks as the wake for a funeral. We arrived and instantly felt unwelcome by the staff, who spent the whole of our time there watching us and clearing our tables before we were finished. The Carvery itself wasn’t good quality either, all of the vegetables were undercooked and hard, and there was a sour, vinegary taste to the broccoli. The staff didn’t fail to make it clear that we weren’t allowed more than one portion (despite the fact we were paying for every plate of food ordered) and when one member of family asked to take theirs home instead, they got told to “wait until the end to see what is left” meaning she went hungry and only got offered the crumbs and leftovers of everyone’s food! There are a lot of young children in my family, so there was noise to an extent, but the staff kept telling us we needed to be quiet. Every time we ordered drinks, we received attitude from the same members of staff - they looked like they were tired of us and didn’t want us to be there. This was later proved when we got told we had to leave because we were taking up too many tables. We were the largest party in there and were definitely their most profitable customers, so why they needed us to leave is beyond me. On a day where we were celebrating the life of a loved one, we got told to leave after just a short few hours. Disrespectful behaviour and I wouldn’t recommend to anyone or go back there myself again. It was overpriced, low quality and...
