I cannot say enough good words about Martin and his Amazing Team at the Duke of York. We held my father’s wake here and the staff could not have been more accommodating or kind. Martin was the perfect t host and thought of everything. The food was incredible and all our guests had nothing but great things to say about the spread! We had some odd requests related to my dad that they were able to fulfill and even allowed us to play a photo montage throughout the wake on the pub TV. This place will always now hold a piece of my heart and I would like to recognize Martin and the team for such a wonderful job. Their kindness, thoughtful attention to detail will never be forgotten. Martin and his staff couldn't have done more when we held my brothers wake in the Duke. They were so kind and compassionate and bent over backwards to ensure everything ran smoothly. The catering was excellent and the bar service outstanding. They took great care of not only the close family but everyone who attended. I know it's only a room, in a pub, but they could make this sooo much better for little cost. No excuse for threadbare carpets is there? Also, the squishy mattress was very uncomfortable. Put a shelf up in the bathroom or a cupboard for guests toiletries, put a mirror on the bedroom wall, put a 20-30cm shower head in the bathroom and add a layer of glazing to keep out the incessant traffic noise from the busy A6.
