Terrible customer service, unwelcoming experience! Me and a couple friends visited here on a quiet winter afternoon, shortly after finishing our drinks we were told we had to leave as weād āover stayed our welcomeā (an hour and a half) where as on the table it states we are welcome for two hours. One member of the party was using an empty plug socket to charge her iPhone whilst we were all catching up about uni life etc and the staff said they ādidnāt mindā yet repeatedly brought up the fact the phone was on charge. We questioned if the phone was the problem and it wasnāt, the problem was weād had our drinks, didnāt want to order anything else but were still sitting chatting. All 3 of us work in customer service and we have all worked in hospitality, I have never worked for or been to a place so rude towards their customers. For reference, we are 19/20 year old girls, not causing any trouble to the staff or disturbing the cafe. Whilst being asked to leave, there was one other older couple sat, just chatting after their drinks yet they werenāt asked to leave? Itās embarrassing for us infront of the only other couple in the cafe and poses the question of - why us and not them? It was -3 outside and we were waiting for a lift - would an elderly group be treated the same? Very unusual and uncomfortable experience, being asked to leave 3 times having only been there less than 1.5 hours. The third time we were approached was by a different lady who said we could sit elsewhere itās just a family normally visit and sit where we were sat, that was not a problem so could we have not been told this in the first place? After the third lady approached us however, we were already so uncomfortable we chose to leave. The electricity being used to charge the phone Iām sure comes out of no oneās wages, so why was it an issue? Very, very confused and disappointed. Recommend if youāre over 35, clearly they arenāt keen on young adults in their...
Read moreI paid £9 for a vegetarian breakfast . 2 poached eggs . A dish of beans .2 hash browns 2 sausages one tomatoe . 2 mushrooms . No toast as I didnt want bread . The beans and the eggs were cold. Having worked in hospitality as a kitchen manager the beans and the wggs are cooked last on a breakfast to ensure they are piping hot. The hash briwns were very hot . Definitely not worth £9 . They asked me if everything was ok on my way out and when I said it was cold no apology was offered and full price charged . Wish I had taken a photo of my £9 worth of food . Very disappointed as its a nice place in nice surroundings . The cakes looked good and I know they have gluten and dairy free options . Think theyvare best sticking to afternoon teas and forgetting the breakfasts. The staff are very loud and spend time chatting to each other or regular customets . They are not very welcoming of new customers and have no desire to ask if you are ok or do a table check back . Almost complacent with an air of arrogance . Not my kind of place . Not my kind of people and certainly not good value for money . NB Food should be served above 63 degrees celsius ....

I normally work at the library, but the heating is broken. I came in to ask if I could work and was going to buy food and drink. You kindly offered me a table and menu when I arrived. I came over and asked if I could stay until 1200 when the pub opens, the Dog & Partridge who are very welcoming. As a remote worker I always like to ask venues if I can stay and work and pay my way buying food and drink. I was shut down immediately with - no 2 hours. You were not polite, you spoke harshly which was a shock. By both members of staff. I had hoped for a more human, empathetic response. There was no dialogue or discussion, just a hard firm no.
I didn't feel welcome I left. I was very upset by...
