Nice open and airy place with white painted furniture and bookcase wallpaper. Staff were pleasant and helpful with my wife's pepper allergy. I had a turkey sandwich on brown with spiced apricot chutney. Fresh coleslaw and salad with pomegranate dressing. Crisps rounded off the plate with a cup of Teapig's everyday tea. Tasty sandwich. More coleslaw would have been nice; oddly shaped plate meant my salad struggled not to fall off onto the table. Anyway... Nice food, pleasant atmosphere. Owner seemed nice, though younger waitress seemed to struggle with idle chat. My wife mentioned we'd passed a couple of times before but never came in - and I don't think she responded, which was odd. But that's a minor point they could do with picking up; otherwise, can't complain.

An absolutely AMAZING little cafe in Stockport. Went there for Afternoon Tea for my daughters 10th birthday, from the moment of getting in touch to book the staff were friendly, welcoming and accommodating. The spread of afternoon tea for both the children and the adults was just amazing, generous amounts, immaculately presented and very delicious. Anything we didn't manage to eat was boxed up to take away with us :-). The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely setting too, bright and airy. A little gem on Buxton Road.

We had a fantastic time at The Bake House! After finding out our originally planned venue for afternoon tea was closed we called the Bake House and they accommodated us at the last minute! We were too late to order afternoon tea but they did their best to give us the experience by plating up our sandwiches into a platter and putting our chosen cakes on a cake stand. Delicious baked good, teas coffees and scrumptious milkshakes for the kids. 100% recommend!

Terrible customer service, unwelcoming experience! Me and a couple friends visited here on a quiet winter afternoon, shortly after finishing our drinks we were told we had to leave as we’d ā€˜over stayed our welcome’ (an hour and a half) where as on the table it states we are welcome for two hours. One member of the party was using an empty plug socket to charge her iPhone whilst we were all catching up about uni life etc and the staff said they ā€˜didn’t mind’ yet repeatedly brought up the fact the phone was on charge. We questioned if the phone was the problem and it wasn’t, the problem was we’d had our drinks, didn’t want to order anything else but were still sitting chatting. All 3 of us work in customer service and we have all worked in hospitality, I have never worked for or been to a place so rude towards their customers. For reference, we are 19/20 year old girls, not causing any trouble to the staff or disturbing the cafe. Whilst being asked to leave, there was one other older couple sat, just chatting after their drinks yet they weren’t asked to leave? It’s embarrassing for us infront of the only other couple in the cafe and poses the question of - why us and not them? It was -3 outside and we were waiting for a lift - would an elderly group be treated the same? Very unusual and uncomfortable experience, being asked to leave 3 times having only been there less than 1.5 hours. The third time we were approached was by a different lady who said we could sit elsewhere it’s just a family normally visit and sit where we were sat, that was not a problem so could we have not been told this in the first place? After the third lady approached us however, we were already so uncomfortable we chose to leave. The electricity being used to charge the phone I’m sure comes out of no one’s wages, so why was it an issue? Very, very confused and disappointed. Recommend if you’re over 35, clearly they aren’t keen on young adults in their...

I paid £9 for a vegetarian breakfast . 2 poached eggs . A dish of beans .2 hash browns 2 sausages one tomatoe . 2 mushrooms . No toast as I didnt want bread . The beans and the eggs were cold. Having worked in hospitality as a kitchen manager the beans and the wggs are cooked last on a breakfast to ensure they are piping hot. The hash briwns were very hot . Definitely not worth £9 . They asked me if everything was ok on my way out and when I said it was cold no apology was offered and full price charged . Wish I had taken a photo of my £9 worth of food . Very disappointed as its a nice place in nice surroundings . The cakes looked good and I know they have gluten and dairy free options . Think theyvare best sticking to afternoon teas and forgetting the breakfasts. The staff are very loud and spend time chatting to each other or regular customets . They are not very welcoming of new customers and have no desire to ask if you are ok or do a table check back . Almost complacent with an air of arrogance . Not my kind of place . Not my kind of people and certainly not good value for money . NB Food should be served above 63 degrees celsius ....

Unfriendly staff. Do not recommend. I chose to take my money elsewhere.

I normally work at the library, but the heating is broken. I came in to ask if I could work and was going to buy food and drink. You kindly offered me a table and menu when I arrived. I came over and asked if I could stay until 1200 when the pub opens, the Dog & Partridge who are very welcoming. As a remote worker I always like to ask venues if I can stay and work and pay my way buying food and drink. I was shut down immediately with - no 2 hours. You were not polite, you spoke harshly which was a shock. By both members of staff. I had hoped for a more human, empathetic response. There was no dialogue or discussion, just a hard firm no.

I didn't feel welcome I left. I was very upset by...
