The Wilfred Wood - JD Wetherspoon — Restaurant in Stockport

Went to this Wetherspoon's Stockort today for a late lunch. Ordered 2 mixed grills. It came within a reasonable time , but from there things went down hill. The food smelled weird , on trying the pork steak from both meals it was obvious it was bad, it tasted awful and smelled as bad. I went to speak to a person behind the bar, which I did discreetly . She said she would be over in a minute. She did come over in a couple of minutes . I asked Her to smell the pork , which she did and the look on her face said everything. She said yes she thought it was bad, shook her head and took the meals away. Shortly after she came back to ask if we would like to have the ultimate steak meal. We both agreed. Shortly after that a man came over , he apologised and asked if we would like a dessert on the house as way of compensation. We agreed that would be nice. He said he would come back to take the order for these deserts later. Our steak meals came , the mushroom was the only thing on the plate with any taste. After we had finished we waited for 20 minutes no one came, my husband went to the bar to explain the situation to another man , who said he would have to speak to the first man . We then waited another 15 minutes and still no one came. As we were running out of time with parking we had to go. Poor customer service. Food not any better. Will not return to...

Great place for a cheap meal and a great selection of cask beers. also alcohol and food reasonably priced. only 4 stars given as there is no car park for this pub. there is one at the rear but it does not belong to the pub and you will be fined if parked there. I did originally give this 4 stars this has dropped to 2. I started using the app ( Big mistake. ) Ordered a bottle of wine paid for it and was then told they didn't have it so asked for a refund and was told I had to go through PayPal even after I explained I hadn't used PayPal . He just kept saying he had been told to quote paypal. So the manager there is obviously incompetent. The next time I went in ordered food and drink at the bar and it was only that a friend said it doesn't actually tell you what you ordered on your bill just a final price that I added it up only to find I had been overcharged by over £2. So obviously wetherspoons are now scamming there customers. So if you go there for food I would say don't use the app and...

I don't think you can really mark Wetherspoons down, as they say you get what you pay for. I am a fan... However...

Tonight I was in and sat around the middle of the bar. Moved after my first drink as there was a loud group of 4 screeching and playing music on their phones so I moved to the back of the bar. Wasn't much better tbh, slowly but surely the group at the back got bigger. 4-5, then another three and another one. At least 9 people in a pandemic hugging and sitting together. I am happy that when I spoke to the bar staff they handled it appropriately but I shouldn't have to have done that but that's what happens when kids are in charge themselves.

You have put things in place to make this better but it still falls on the people to make sure guidelines are being adhered to and that is the people on the stafflist for this bar, not me.
