The Grapes — Restaurant in Stockport

TLDR: Extremely rude staff, not lending itself to the name of "public house". Not sanitary.

I was greeted by a rather unpleasant and power-mad woman who decided it was her divine right to decide a pub is no longer a place for socialising ("this isn't a social club" she says) and unless I purchased a drink I had to leave. My friends (about 8 to 10 of us) all had a drink, so she wasn't exactly losing out on money but decided to single me out and bully me into leaving. Apparently this was her approach with my friends too which all were told to buy or leave, despite the fact they were playing pool (i.e. spending money). We were pretty much the only people in there having decided to try this place for the first time it was quite empty -unsurprisingly.

Furthermore the hygiene of this place leaves much to be desired, upon entry I was greeted by the smell of what could only be described as stale urine like that you'd find in a urinal probably the size of a small olympic-sized swimming pool.

Absolutely Adore The Grapes ! 🍇 One of my favourite places to have a drink on the weekend . The staff and owner are the friendliest and the atmosphere is always immaculate. The decor is lovely plenty of space inside and outside. The beer garden has lots of space to sit down and places sheltered from the rain . There is always uplifting music that is impossible not to dance to . Makes the hangover the next day worth it . If going to the grapes is one of the stops for the night you are in for a great time ! Friendly bar staff however the landlord was completely out of order and drunk the entire night. Very disrespectful towards customers and will never return again. Reported to Robinsons. Thanks to all the friendly bar staff who informed me that the landlord was actually drunk too. Terrible place, avoid at all costs unless you want someone hassling you...
