Saghir Express — Restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent

One of the best buffets I’ve ever been! From start to finish the staff are incredible! On arriving we were greeted by a waiter who checked our temperature as per Covid protocol, he then offered us to take a squirt of the hands free disinfectant. We were sat down and the covid safe buffet procedure explained.

Firstly, a hot skillet is brought out with a selection of the nights starters, these skillets are great for 2/3 people and are unlimited, the waiters are always happy to bring fresh out when required. You can even ask to remove items you don’t like to prevent waste.

To get our mains we have to go up individually to the main buffet area whilst wearing a mask. A waiter, also wearing a mask will take us around the mains (curries, rices, naans) and fill our plate for us. We then follow a one way system back to our seat.

Finally for desert we select from the menu and our waiter brought our order over.

The quality of the food is incredible, my pick of items being the Chicken Pakoras and the Lamb Karahi curry.

For around £16 you get great service and a great selection of delicious Asian dishes, soft drinks are also included and the restaurant allows people to take their own alcohol.

Me and my Wife have been coming here from Oldham for years. Never leave a review because its always been our little secret haha but have never left disappointed. Tried it first time only because we were in Stoke and fell in love with this place. We travel from Oldham to eat here firstly because the food is always beautiful MashaAllah but more importantly the service is absolutely top notch. Especially the brothers Saghir and Shafiq, nothing is too much trouble genuinely feels like we have come to visit family every time we visit.

This time round (first time since coronavirus took over) we took our 6 month old and arrived late for Iftar. Tiffany (sorry if I've remembered your name wrong) greeted us and was so lovely. She had our dates and fruit ready, showed us to our table and was interacting with our son as well which was nice. Had a chat with both of the brothers during our visit, always a pleasure.

Saghir, thank you bro for the kind gesture for Ramadan as well. You really didn't need to but you touched our heart with that ❤

Visited here Monday 06-Feb 2023, very limited buffet starters (3 meat, 2 Veg) all clearly reheated or yesterdays as taste proved so only took 1 bite of each. No biryani, or brown rice only plain boiled. Curry’s included in the buffet again reheated last week probably (everyone looked dry) Manager/waiter did ask if we wanted a fresh Curry & ordered a Lamb 1 which wasn’t great. Deserts or lack of was last weeks dry Gulab Jamans, alongside custard/cake (puke looking) & ice cream with again bone dry cakes.

Overall cannot understand the excellent reviews, either local food is really bad or my experiences have all blown this place out of the water.

Much better places then this establishment as it was very quiet, rather them be honest & tell us to order off menu than serving old tasteless food. Or recommending us to elsewhere, just to finish this terrible experience all of us had stomach pains & diarrhoea for 2/3 days after.

Would never return & waste my money/time, have told all my friends/family this is 1...
