Wrights Pies Longton — Restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent

I live in Nottingham and sometimes get the train to Longton when visiting my family in Blurton. I didn't even know the Wright's Pies shop was there until about a year ago when I happened to take a different route back to the station!

Anyway, I usually get my oatcakes wherever I can, with Tesco being the last resort because, well, the ones they stock aren't great. As they're usually flying visits, sometimes it's hard to get any, but since finding the Wright's shop I go there if possible.

The oatcakes they sell are made by Kidsgrove Oatcakes and I'm thrilled to bits with them.

I made my shortest trip yet on Thursday, stepping off the train at Longton at 3:30pm and having to be back on it at 6:30am the next day. 3:30pm is not far off closing time and on occasions I have been there in the afternoon only to find they've sold out.

So this time I called them on Thursday morning and asked them to save me a couple of packs, and they did, and it was a good job as they had otherwise sold out by the time I got there. The staff on the phone and in the shop were very friendly and now I'm stocked up, although it's now Sunday and I've already eaten 8 out of 12 of the oatcakes. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Brilliant little shop and it will be my first choice for oatcakes...

I live in Sheffield now and have been here for 38 years, I introduced Wright's pies to the people here and they love them, how could they not I hear you cry!at one time I was having to bring 60 pies back after each trip home for all the folk up here. In my opinion the best pies anywhere. In Sheffield they make a relish called Henderson's (like our pies you cant usually get in anywhere else) a perfect match ! If you get the chance try them together...

Called in to get some supplies for a family gathering (cakes sausage rolls pork pies etc.) only one person serving two at the back just out of site talking with a shop full of people told I could not have all that I wanted and was prepared to pay cash for, took what I was allowed and went to another branch for the rest.
