We visited Thursday lunchtime,, we wanted 2 for 1 meals and asked for fish, chips and peas, but we're told none was available unless we had them off the fish and chip menu costing ÂŁ6 more, this may not seem a lot, but to us pensioners it is, that's why we choose 2 for 1 menu. We had dining out card with us, which had been given to us by our daughter which had ÂŁ8.55 on, we paid the other ÂŁ6 odd by cash. The barman gave us the card and receipt back, but no where was the cash recorded, I have the receipt. the meal was piping hot, the batter on the fish was very thick and very hard my husband left most of his dinner and so did I, we were both bitterly disappointed and wonder what happened, it spoilt a lovely day out. Jan. I rang Mel, she apologized and offered me a voucher, which I said I would accept, she also said ,as I lived so near to the pub, she could even pop it through my door herself, up to date I have received nothing, I have rung 3 times and been told it's in the post, I think it must be snail mail, I don't think I will be visiting the moorland again..đ The very next morning someone in a car posted a voucher through my door with an apology, it wasn't in the post after all, I never thought it was anyway. We visited again today 13th, Feb and I'm very glad to say it was so different. The place was packed, we had the fish and chips again, this time they were delicious and we'll worth the 5 stars I have given it now, I will certainly visit again,...
Read moreUpdate 2023 went on a Friday night & think they were a bit short of staff and supplies as it seemed like they left our steaks under the heat lamp a bit long. My dad's was dry and mine was very gristely (they did give me a free drink for the gristly meat by way of apology). Tasted good though thankfully. They also skipped the meringue entirely from our Eton messes. Go somewhere else if you want great food but here if you're not fussy and want something reasonably priced with a nice drink. Sadly only one or two ales on draught. Was a bit noisy with some folks carrying out an impromptu karaoke and there being a football match on but that's to be expected lol
Previous time we went in the summer: Food was generally very good, although the dirty fries were actually dirty, the rather past it garnish had a paper label attached!
We also ordered two dressed salads which for some reason took a long time to arrive. We'd almost given up hope. When they did arrive they came naked (no dressing) and no apology or explanation was given at the time, let alone warning us earlier they'd run out of dressing.
Also our waiter forgot to provide is cutlery to eat the salads with which is pretty unhelpful.
Overall would visit again, but would reserve giving a tip next time until they demonstrate that there...
Read moreI really dislike putting negative reviews for businesses.. but I feel I need to on this occasion. We walked in and it took a good ten mins for anyone to realise we were even there (we had booked a table) all tables were reserved so we didn't want just sit anywhere.. after finally been seated we ordered food.. an hour passed and we were still waiting for food my partner went to find out what was going on to be asked weren't we told it was a 45min wait.. (we were not) anyway no bother the man said it would out within the next 10 mins.. 5 mins later the food came out. I ordered a sizzler plate now if you've been to any sizzler pubs you'll know them plates come out very hot! It did not it was stone cold my steak looked like it had been sat there for a good while it was dry and stone cold! By this point I'd had enough I waited a few mins for the waiter to return with the other meals.. no body came! By this time i had a very tired and hungry 6 year old so I went to the bar to tell them I'm sorry but I will not be paying my tab for the food and I will pay for the drinks and leave. The man behind the bar was really apologetic and looked quite embarrassed and said not to worry about our drinks he would sort it. It was our first and only time there I wouldn't return after such a...
