We love to eat at the Bluebell for a special meal and thought it a perfect place to celebrate our Golden Wedding with a group of our oldest friends. Ayman gave us a private dining experience in our own room behind the main restaurant & positioned the tables in a large square so we could all hear & talk to each other easily. His welcome to each of our guests was much appreciated by all and he was most solicitous in looking after our individual needs. The food as ever was delicious & beautifully presented with a large variety of dishes from traditional roast beef and lamb rump to a Middle Eastern tagine and seafood risotto. We all thoroughly enjoyed our choices and Ayman and his team looked after us extremely well. He made our special day really memorable and all our friends were most impressed by both the restaurant & the personal attention we were given. Thank you to Ayman and all his team for an excellent day. I have no reservations in heartily recommending the Bluebell for both food and personal attention to detail. A both lovely and delicious...

My first evening at the Bluebell as a treat for my parents, on their recommendation, was a superb choice. The staff were lovely and very attentive from the outset, headed up by the engaging and passionate owner. This is how to create a great restaurant experience, lead from the front and put in the effort, and the staff around you match that effort and shine too. Food presentation is beautiful and the flavours were superb. Lightly battered Calamari and prawns were crispy and seasoned to perfection. Duck breast for main was simply the best I've ever had, wonderfully tender and again the seasoning was spot on. Apple and sultanna crumble with custard to finish, is a winner. Three courses of pure delight. A mark lost for atmosphere is not a criticism, more an observation on the lack of any soft furnishings. The layout is lovely, but there is nothing to soak up exuberant fellow diners chat, hence background restaurant buzz can turn in to a bit of a din. All In all, a fantastic meal and I can't...

This is the first time my husband and I had been to the restaurant. This was by chance, but what a great experience. We were warmly welcomed when we entered and sat at a table of our choosing.

The service was very attentive but not intrusive. The owner introduced himself and explained all the details of the menu.

We placed an order for a starter to share, and not long later, our food arrived, with fresh home baked bread rolls to accompany the olives, olive oil and balsamic reduction.

Our main course arrived, again in a very timely manner, piping hot. We both chose the champagne battered fish. The batter was delicate and crisp, the fish was pure white and flakey, and the portion size was perfect for us both.

We were so pleased with the quality of the food, for the first time in a long time we shared one of the home made deserts and again not disappointed with any part of it.

In summary, a real find which we would recommend to any one and we will now be a returning customer for...

We arrived at the Blue Bell just after 2pm for a late lunch after being turned down at The Mount next door, even though they were serving until 2.30…not good service, guys. The Blue Bell is a nice old place with historic beams and floors, plus several personal touches. It's certainly not a boutique designer place - it's homely. The owner was very welcoming and arranged a nice table for us. He was charming, and being Egyptian, he was almost too nice! He recommended a few dishes but didn't push. The meal was a delight: properly Italian tastes and very fresh throughout. We had lovely home made Bresaola and Bruschetta to start, then a delicious Seafood Risotto and Swordfish for main course - the chef definitely knows how to cook fish! Nice to have the option of champagne by the glass (decently priced too). Definitely not small portions either and we felt great value. Highly recommended

We arrived as a family of four, including a toddler and a newborn, without a reservation on a busy Saturday lunchtime. From the moment we walked in, we were made to feel incredibly welcome. The staff went out of their way to make a fuss of our 3-year-old, which made him feel really special and added a lovely touch to our visit. They also brought out his food very quickly, which made the whole experience much more relaxed and enjoyable for all of us. The food itself was excellent, and the service throughout was equally impressive — friendly, attentive, and efficient. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place and will definitely be returning!

The Bluebell is everything dining should be — fresh, thoughtful, and full of heart. Every dish is made with carefully sourced ingredients and genuine care, and you can really taste the difference. The restaurant itself is warm, comfortable, and beautifully relaxed, with staff who make you feel truly welcome and looked after. The menu is full of delicious homemade recipes, and nothing is ever too much trouble. If you’re looking for a memorable meal with real connection to the food you’re eating, The Bluebell is well worth the journey.
