Felt really sorry for the waiting staff, but bringing every dish and drink out one at a time with embarrassing delays was never going to work! They had obviously had little or no training and with less patient customers would just have been lambs to the slaughter! We had to order in advance as we were a large party! (There were only 6 of us plus a 2 yr old and the place was almost empty - just us, a woman with 3 young children and a young couple, this is one of the busiest nights of the week in most restaurants). One of our party had ordered gluten free, when the meal arrived. We checked and they had no recollection of the gluten free order - a dangerous mistake! They then argued over the order, rather than apologise and show any remorse - relating conversations that had never taken place with us. Once they realized, and accepted their error they were apologetic, and asked if our gluten intolerant party member 'still wanted to eat'!? She ended up eating later than the rest of us, inevitably, but a number of us ended up with cold food waiting for others to be served. Some of the food was served on hot plates, my pizza was served on a cold plate, so was almost cold by the time everyone had been served. Although some of the food was good - we couldn't say it was worth the agro! We had an amazing time coming last year under the previous owners, but this experience was really disheartening - especially as an 86th Birthday celebration! We would have complained at the time but didn't want to ruin his birthday further or face the argument we had...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy wife and I had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant on 19th May 2025. The restaurant, on this occasion, was the venue of a fund-raising evening organised for the benefit of Henley Community Library. Despite the restaurant being full, staff were at hand to greet and seat us as soon as we arrived. We were also greeted by the proprietress, whose name was Bilen who made us feel very welcome. There were a number of salads to choose from and I had both the cold pasta salad and the chicken salad. The chicken salad was particularly exceptional. I could say the same for the mains. I had small portions of their Seafood Pasta and Lasagne and both were equally good. I was quite full by now and was contemplating just moving on to a coffee. Bilen persuaded me to try the Tiramisu which she said she had made. I was so very pleased that I did. It was one of the best I've ever had. Our table was served by Binita and Nafisa who were not only attentive but were both genuinely friendly. We were also introduced to the Chef Amir who came to ask if we everything was to our satisfaction. A quick mention also of Resham who soldiered away in the background helping out. All in all, it was a most memorable evening made possible by all the staff of La...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe arrived unannounced and a bit late for lunch. We weren't sure the place was open, as the place was empty when we walked in, but we got a warm welcome as soon as we opened the door. The lights and music got switched on just for us and so did the pizza oven! The pizzas were freshly made, with fresh ingredients. When I got served mine, it was pointed out to me that the edges were a bit dark, and I was asked if that would be ok, because if I didn't like it that way, they would immediately prepare another one for me. I was happy to keep it as it was in no way burned just a bit dark, and it was finger-lickingly good! The Italian red wine was a perfect match for our pizzas, and we were offered to taste the house's special desert: a banoffee pie. It was simply put the best banoffee pie I have ever had. We will definitely be back next time we're in the neighborhood and look forward to getting the royal treatment again from Bee, who acted as both chef and waitress and is a banoffee...
