This was a rare occasion for us to have a meal out since it’s expensive to eat out as a family these days. We decided to travel half an hours drive to visit Sans, which made it even more disappointing.
The atmosphere was underwhelming as was the welcome. The staff aren’t unpleasant, but just quiet and not very warm.
We decided to potentially spend a bit more money and treat ourselves to a special buffet menu to share between us, so that our children could try some other dishes. However, both the waitress and the manager were un-accommodating in changing just one of the five dishes to a beef chow mein, since one of the dishes was very spicy and not ideal for the children. After explaining that we were prepared to spend over £90 for a meal, we didn’t even think that such a minor change would be such a big problem. It really put a dampener on the mood and we were baffled why such a small request could not be accommodated.
After being forced to order separately from the menu, two of the dishes were nice, however the remaining ones were underwhelming.
We’d saved up to have a special meal out and were left feeling upset and disappointed. Such a small request could’ve dramatically changed the course of the evening. It’s a shame the management couldn’t see this.
Many other restaurants would go above and beyond to help and appreciate their diners. Please respect your customers wishes - remember it could be a special...

Service is great and the restaurant is clean and comfortable. Food is very bland and I presume tailored for wealthy Midlands village tastes. For someone who normally eats in more urban areas you might be disappointed with the flavours which are not really there in any of the dishes I tried. It's like what Chinese tasted like in 90s in London suburbs and not
That being said there was a decent amount of fresh veg and the meat was proper stuff and not the squishy frozen stuff that some restaurants have nowadays. There was not much oil on the dishes and it is probably one of the more healthy Chinese meals I've tried
Prices are quite extreme for this type of restaurant and portion size but I guess again that comes with the area and clientele. 3 small satay sticks were over a tenner and a meal was near 40 pound a person for 2 courses with 1 drink
The beer was well kept and tasty though and reasonable price at under a fiver a pint
Nice little blast from the past type place but I hope they modernise the recipes in next years even if the menu stays the same, it's got great staff and is a...
Read moreVery high quality Chinese restaurant, would go as far as saying it is the best Chinese anywhere in the West Midlands. Dennis who runs the place is a really friendly man who puts his customers first and does his best to make everyone feel welcome. We are fortunate enough to live only a short walk from Sans and have probably had at least 1 a week for over the last 2-3 years.
The food is very high quality, great portion sizes and everything is full of flavour. The menu has a great range of dishes to choose from and if you like salt and chilli chips, these are the best you will ever have!
If you are passing by and want a high quality tasty takeaway then it is definitely worth dropping in, or if you want to go out for a nice meal as a couple or a family, Dennis will always make you feel welcome. We sat in on Chinese New Year and Dennis did a brilliant dragon dance which was a sight to behold!
Thanks again Dennis, I’m sure we will...
