We were staying in the area and ended up trying this cafe for breakfast. The young man who was serving when we arrived, appeared clueless. Did not know all the items on the menu. We asked for 2 small half sized Traditional English breakfasts, one with tea, one with coffee. Another female member of staff came out from back of cafe and had to assist him with the order. (Over £18 for 2 half sized breakfasts with a drink) we queried the price, as full size breakfasts were listed as £9 each. And we had only requested the small half size breakfasts. We were told that was the price! Breakfasts were just ok. When the young man bought the tea over, he spilt it onto me. When I asked for salt, I was given a pot of pepper. Service was shoddy at best. The worst thing was, upon leaving, we noticed another bakery and cafe only a few doors down, which we have since discovered has great reviews! Don't bother going in this cafe unless you want a long painful...
Read moreThis cafe has changed hands!!! It used to be run by a Mediterranean man who was proud of his food. I popped in for a coffee last week & it wasn't good ,also none of the cakes were home made & ridiculously expensive even by Henley standards. Today I went for lunch with a girlfriend. The menus are still the same, that's where the similarity ends. We ordered a seafood platter & a meat platter. I'd had both before & they were fabulous with tasty fresh products. What we got was a plate of shop bought 2 slivers of salami, ham& some sort of chorizo. 10 cheap olives & 2 slivers of chiabata bread. It was padded out with salad & cheap Parmesan. But the fish platter was the gem !!! A tablespoon of prawn cocktail , 2 slices of smoked salmon & tinned tuna!!!! I checked the menu & it said crab, when I asked the waitress she shrugged! She was more concerned with flirting with the only other 2 customers. No wonder the bakery was full. Would I go again. I...
Read moreLovely breakfast on Sunday morning but ordering was a nightmare. The blonde lady behind the counter didn't use a pen and paper, her English wasn't brilliant which is no problem but please 3 people and 2 breakfasts. I noticed only 2 sets of cutlery were given to us, I questioned the order as I knew she hadn't taken in what I had politely asked for. 1 full English was easy enough but to explain only bacon and tomato for one, and bacon tomato and beans for another was beyond her. Young chap tried to serve 3 cups of coffee before taking away the empty 3 plates on a small table, oh dear !!! Such a shame as the actual ingredients and cooking were lovely and gorgeous coffee .... please put in some staff training otherwise others will wait for Henley Bakery to open on a Sunday morning...
