Everywhere seemed to be closed in Henley in Arden so I was thrilled to discover the Heritage Centre and its treasure trove of objects. My brother and I learnt so much and we reminisced about old confectionary and school classroom as we could relate.
We spent ages looking around the many rooms and in the garden. It was really nice that a staff member approached us to check how we were doing and if we’d visited the garden. This opened the way for an extensive discussion on the Anderson Shelter, World War 1 and 2 and education from era. The staff member was very knowledgeable and helpful and even took us to a model of tunnels used during the war to provide additional information. I heard my brother talking alto another member who f staff who he described as professional.
Some of the items in the centre are everyday items. And it made me aware of the fact I’m always clearing out. Perhaps I should keep things that may be of interest to future generations! Should also keep digital images and photographs as they may be of...
