Unfortunately we decided to spend my 50th birthday here yesterday. Upon checking in we were told we could sit anywhere except on a reserved table, there was only 1 available undercover outside so this is where we sat. We checked in at 1.30pm, and everything was fine. The build up to the World Cup started happening at about 4.30pm, so I'm sure this contributed to the stress levels of the owner and staff, bouncers arrived etc and we placed an order for a drink and we were told we had 1/2 to leave the table as it was reserved, we advised that we'd sat at the only table not marked reserved and we were told we were OK to be there. We were then told we could not have this table but they would move us out into the carpark onto another table, I said I was not happy with this and to pass that onto the owner. The owner then came out and asked us what the problem was, we explained we had sat at an unreserved table which we had confirmed with a young lady was ok and we were now being asked to move as the table was reserved, the owner added what time we had arrived I said 1.30pm and she said we should only have been there for a 2hr slot, which we were never advised by any staff and they were more than happy to continue serving us as they weren't very busy, apparently we should have checked their website where it states apparently that you only get a 2hr slot, however, I'm unaware of anyone who walks into a pub from the street checking what there parameters are regarding their visit and if there are specific requirements for the pub, then surely they make you aware of this when you sit down I.e this table will be available to you for 2hrs are you OK with this? Or you put a reserved from a time notice on the table then everyone is fully aware of the parameters and you are not relying on staff to remember in what was going to be a busy day. You cannot have your cake and eat it and allow us to sit there all afternoon serving us because you aren't busy and then boot us out and enforce rules when it suits you. Because she didn't want to listen, she said she would not serve us and that I was shouting at her, now I'm sure that if that was the case the 3 bouncers who had arrived would have been over to us in a split second as surely they are paid to notice these things had that have been the case, however, I was speaking very calmly, but unfortunately she did not like what i was saying, therefore she did the only thing she had left in her power to do and not serve us. I would just like to sincerely thank the owner for single handedly ruining my birthday with her despicable attitude and I really do hope that someone extends her the same courtesy on her birthday so she can understand how awful she made the day......well done, you must be very proud... .Funny....how you've had a few reviews over various forums, which say that a dark haired lady has been rude and sarcastic....wonder who that might be🤔! Wish you all the best with the improvements which clearly need to be made....❤ and respect to...

If you require Gluten Free then avoid like the plague. Very disappointed. There are (hopefully “were” by the time you read this) errors on the website menu. We wanted the GF pasta that was available on the web menu, but not at the table.

We switched to the Halloumi burger that had a GF option available. When it arrived the burger bun looked amazing… so amazing that I asked if it actually was gluten free. NO! They hadn’t written down the order correctly, so it had to go back.

When the meal reappeared it was no longer a burger at all. It had morphed into a Halloumi sandwich, between 2 bits of Warburton Tiger Bread. What!?

For regular diners I’d rate it a 2.5 out of 5. For gluten free less than 1 out of 5.

If you quote an actual menu on your website then get it right. That’s just basic good practice.

Sort out proper GF options. Get some good quality dried GF pasta, which doesn’t require special storage, and if you quote GF options for burgers, get some proper GF buns. No one expects 2 bits of bread… come on!

Just do...

What a wonderful find after a frustrating and rather sad morning. We received a warm welcome and the pub was beautifully furnished and designed. I liked the kitchen being on view, and everything that came out looked beautifully presented. My orange juice was sharp and tangy, such a lovely contrast to the bland ‘is it juice or squash?’ so often served in other pubs. We both chose lasagne which was full of meat and delicious, and I asked for a salad accompaniment which wasn’t on the menu but was very readily provided, with a lovely combination of leaves, delicate slices of onion and tomato, and olives which were a very welcome surprise. We didn’t have pud but the coffee was delicious. All the people who served us were lovely. We shall certainly...

Arrived later in the evening midweek. Only a couple of other tables were occupied. Old looking with exposed beams , very much on par with the rest of the town. But it was pretty. It did not have a great rating before we arrived, and frankly it did not live up to that. Service was slow. The menu was quite limited. The food took quite a long time , arriving just after I said " The food is taking ages ". Perhaps they heard me. Now my main course was over £14. Two sausages mash and gravy. Don't get me wrong it was very nice. But another sausage for that price surely ? Nearly five pounds for a bottle of still water. Overall if it came a bit quicker and was a little cheaper we would be back. But for the above reasons we will not.

Had a good time at The Nags Head. Came here on a Sunday after a walk around the area. The place was very traveller friendly. There is a bar and a restaurant side to eat at. We choose the bar side, which was lively with the rugby on. Sitting in the front room felt homely with the open fire burning and I could still see the rugby from where I was sitting. I addition to a Sunday lunch, they did some classic pub favourites and sandwiches also. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our meals didn't take long to arrive. The portions were a good size and my sandwich was generously filled also. I would recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

We booked a pod because we didn't want to rely on the weather, however, it was a warm sunny day for our family of 4. The pod had windows you could zip open and we had the entrance peeled back too so it was ventilated. It was beautifully furnished with a cosy sofa and 2 chairs, plush rugs, lovely tables and flower arrangements. Also a heater and a sound pod available so you could plug your own music in. The food was lovely, a mistake in the order was rectified adequately and all in all it was a lovely experience!
