This is an exceptional tucked away pub in an historical part of Sunderland's past. The outside walls of the pub are dorned with murals of Jimmy Montgonery and Kevin Philip's, both SAFC heroes. Situated virtually under the Queen Alexander Bridge, on the river Wear, across the road from the site of the former Austin and Pickersgill Shipyards The whole area oozes history and is a dramatic reminder of role the immediate area and it's people. Step inside the pub and the atmosphere is low key and accepting. The walls are a history lesson. The pints are reasonably priced, and they prefer cash to card, so if you're going to visit, make the effort....
