Chanced upon a HIDDEN gem of a Thai food restaurant! 🔥💎 It was so good, I returned for dinner 2 nights in a row 😆
With only 2 tables, and a beautiful open-concept kitchen, you get to see the chef in LITERAL fiery action! 🔥 The ‘wok hei’ taste is evident. One of the best Thai Fried Rice dishes I’ve been served here in the UK.
This store is entirely FAMILY-run ; dad’s the chef, mom’s helping out with prep and the pestling of the Som Tam Thai, son’s is the maitre d’. They’re a lovely Thai family, running a small business. I thoroughly love such a concept.
I came by this place with fellow church members as we were just opposite for choir practice - and how happy I was.
There are vegan options in abundance 🍃
I ordered the Pad Kee Mao and asked for spicy - ooof , it truly was. And it was rich. The other dishes like Som Tam And Paad Thai were heavenly. The only thing I wished they would (hopefully in the near future) would be Thai Milk Teas - that would be perfect to complement the spicy meal.
Authenticity at its finest. Superrrbbbbb Thai Street food. Far away in Sunderland - but totally worth the experience 🔥🔥

Read moreI’ve given this place more than enough chances, mainly because my preferred thai takeaway is only open Thurs-Sun. But my last order from here was the final straw and I will never support this business again out of principle and the way in which they think it's okay to rip off customers.
They consistently overcharge for portions that are VERY small, especially when it comes to protein and I don't eat a lot. Charging £4 for a single small portion of rice is absurd.
I usually order extra tofu because the standard amount is laughable, I was charged £3.20 and received a few wafer thin slices, which totalled about half a block of tofu from the supermarket which only costs £1.34 for a full block, this amount was spread across two dishes, it felt more like I’d ordered stir fried vegetables. So basically I was charged extra for no reason because I didn’t receive extra.
I won't be back due to the blatant overcharging and due to how overpriced this place is for what you get. Look at the 1 star review from 9 months ago, that pretty much sums up 8 out of 10 of my experiences...
Read moreFirst time trying the "Thai Thai Kitchen". I ordered my food and arrived a little early for the collection. I was immediately impressed to see the food being cooked in front of me only a few feet away and not hidden away in a back room kitchen. Staff were chatty, pleasant and efficient, they offered advice and guidance on the spice strengths within their food range, the place is also very clean. The food I ordered (soup, 2 x main dishes and rice to accompany the main) was absolutely delicious and thoroughly enjoyable. The fine balance of flavour and spice was the best I have tasted outside of Thailand. I have tried other Sunderland based purveyors of what they classed as being "Thai food" in the past and have been left bitterly disapointed but not with this one. In brief: Pleasant staff, clean premises and (most importantly) excellent fayre. Definitely...
