The coffee in Tim Hortons in Washington Galleries, opposite Sainsbury's, is unique to me. I haven't tasted coffee this good in an age... Washington's Tim Hortons is a big cool airy place. Big comfy chairs, settees huge windows letting in natural light... I had some of those "Tim Bits"... I was suitably surprised they are all different and quite Lush. There are various food offers. If I were you I'd go for the quirky, different and Canadian. This place has a very friendly open nature to it. As I write it is 22°C in Sunderland/Washington yet in here it is cool and pleasant. I had no idea you can get breakfast wrap for £1 with any hot drink. Now that is something worth trying for isn't it. The staff are helpful and seem to bust serving cleaning and cooking. The drive thru is quite popular too. I've taken some photos on a quiet lull of the Saturday afternoon not quite teatime yet whilst holding on to the afternoon. I liked it in here. The place has a friendly slow rhythm to it. Atul who served me was very good. I'm not easy to deal with... He managed fine... The Manager of the place was floating about actively engaging with his work force ensuring things were ticking over as they should be. Pop in next time you're at the Galleries.

The worst Milkshakes ever. Extremely watery and full of ice crystals. The strawberry one is disgusting, the maple one has a lovely taste, but the texture and consistency is wrong. The chicken and bacon meal was a let down. The bacon was 90% fat and tiny. I literally mean paper thin, it might aswell have not been in the burger. Brioche bun was very stale and the wedges just bog standard little wedges from a freezer. The baconaise and chipotle sauces were quite bland too. So much so, I didn't know which was which. Donuts. Odd one was nice, most were very dry and stale. I did hear the woman saying it was dead yesterday (after the week before having 12 hour ques on a Saturday). Guessing they had a load of left overs as they were definately not fresh. The cruller was vile. It also looked like it had possibly been dropped. It was very eggy! Classic glaze was even worse. So dry and has that cheap lemon flavour to the glaze. The apple fritter though was absolutely divine (the only reason this isnt a 1*). Im guessing the hype will die off very quickly. Staff were friendly, but I was charged for a dozen glazed instead of 1. Luckily I noticed on my receipt and went back for a refund.

I had the toasted cheese and ham sandwich, (crispy on one side soggy on the other) served with limp fries and dip, with a hot chocolate The Hubby had an all day breakfast sandwich with rubbery egg & sausage Iced Hazelnut coffee latte He was less even impressed than I was. We both thought the best thing about the meal was the drinks. The meal.. We ate it, purely because we had missed breakfast and by 2:30pm we would have eaten anything.. 😉 And we did 🤣 The service leaves a lot to be desired We stood and waited at the till to place our order.. As we were first timers in there we had questions about the meal. Nobody came to serve us.. We ended up using the self service kiosks. As I said poor service.. Would I recommend it.. Yes for the drinks, the food I'm undecided. We'd have to try a few other choices from there to give a more comprehensive review, but.. Thus far they leave a lot to be desired as a business. The staff we did encounter were polite, friendly and courteous. Just a shame they didn't have anyone taking orders at the counter... Or even asking if we wanted anything. Sorry some of the photos are the wrong way.. Prices current as of 27.3.22

After visiting once for a meal for myself and my son when it just opened I recieved a toastie that looked as though it had been punched and scrunched and thrown into a bag! It also cost £30 for 2 meals + timbits. ABSOLOUTE RIP OFF!!

I left it for several months and visited now and again for a cuppa at the drive through at a fair(ish) price.

However, in recent weeks we visited around 6 times for the £2.99 meals to try it again.

The first time was OK but a long wait for food. The place was dirty and full of teenagers with no tim hortons food or anything just sat launching straws and napkins about. The table was covered I'm crumbs as was the chairs. Not good enough.

Every time I went after was a nightmare but only for one of our meals. My daughter has a very limited diet and so there's literally one thing in the menu she likes (actually there's not it has to be edited) We order her a cheese and ham toastie and remove all cheese and add one slice of ham at an additional cost of 50p at the machine. It worked the first time but every time after that it came up with an error code on order completion. It didn't work on further visits and instead I was charged £1.69 at the till for 1 measley slice if ham! The staff in there are incapable of making a cup of tea. 3 times I had to go back on my last visit and ask for more milk. The cross chips are undercooked and just warm on more than one occasion.

There is a lack of variety on the menu. The food is not worth the cost. The food is often cold. The place is dirty. The staff have a second language and often speak in whatever language, and I find it rather rude. I feel that should be kept for break times or for customers who speak that language and struggle with English. It's not very good to have 3 to 4 people talking and you can't understand them as they could be saying anything really.. The food is hugely over priced and a real let down. It was advertised as an all singing all dancing amazing Canadian thing and apparently coffee so amazing they sell it in jars. Well the coffee I had was disgusting. They now have a £2.99 breakfast deal on. It's obvious they aren't doing good business. I'd be surprised if it lasted 18months there. And just why they are allowing non paying teenagers in there to come and lay about on sofas is ridiculous. Simply move them on and tell them to leave!

What am I actually missing with this place? Surely this is nit what they serve up in Canada and people rave about cos I've honestly had better from burger vans at a much cheaper cost too!

Lastly after complaining about a bad experience I was given a 4x free meal and Bix of 10 tidbits voucher. Well they can't count as I was only given 3 packs of chips and 8...

Went yesterday with my son as a treat. Place was busy but not too busy. Plenty seats to choose from etc. Place was clean and plenty staff.

When we arrived we waited at the door. I wanted to order at the order machines as we've never been before and we we're undecided if we wanted food or just a drink and donut. The machines where busy and we got shouted down to the tills. I tried to explain I wanted to use a machine. To be told by the lady at the door I must go to the till.......no idea why as there was no one behind me and no que. If I was happy to wait what was the issue?

I was told their was a menu on the screen at the bottom. Got to the till and the big screen with the menu on then changed to just read tim hortons in big writing so couldn't see what we could order. The staff member at the till then proceeded to look at me like I was stupid. Explained I didnt know what was available to order. She didn't try to help and seem very annoyed with us. I'm sorry we've never been here before or seen the menu ive been in the shop less than 2 mins.....no I don't know what I want to order.

Once the menu came back on the screen we just ordered 2 drinks and a donut each as by this stage I was wishing we'd never came. I asked could we have some timbits too as I thought I'd take them for my older son at home. Lady then said heres your receipt you get your order over their. And pointed to order side.

I then questioned do I not get to choose my timbits? To which she rudely just said No. Another member of staff stepped in and said ahh its ok the boxes are mixed you get a bit of each as she tried to make up for the other member of staffs rudeness. I was again disappointed as I knew their be flavours we wouldn't eat.

Overall the drinks where nice, the donuts where nice. The timbits where defo stale thou. The management really need to work on the staff customer care service levels thou. Even my teenage son mentioned the trip hours after the visit to say how uncomfortable...

Highly disappointed with the whole experience. Tried to order on the self service screen for it not to work so had to order at the counter which I didn't mind. But what I did mind was that there was no que and only a handful of other customers in the shop yet I still had to wait over 5 minutes to be served. I was close to walking out. The girl was ducked down behind the til and I honestly thought we were playing hide and seek and I was about to tell her I'd found her but luckily it was a game of peek a boo and she eventually popped back up to serve us. I ordered a hot dog which was cold and broke the knife when I tried to cut through it. I was scared to take a bite because you know, dental work isn't cheap. I also ordered a tuna melt toastie which had zero tuna and was also cold. So it was basically a stale onion sandwich. I mean the worker who put it in the merrychef threw it in there for 15 seconds because I watched him to do it. That amount of time wouldn't even heat a crumb. And the fries that came with it... we'll they weren't even edible. A fresh potato out the ground would have been tastier. Then there was the mango passion fruit cooler. It was cool but where was the mango? Where was the passion fruit? Clearly someone had just put some yellow food die in some water. And I was looking so forward to it. I think if I ever come back I'll just get the milk. Hopefully it's from a cow. However there was one thing I enjoyed and that was watching a member of staff eat her toastie (it looked delicious) It had plenty of filling and some heat to it. Was mouth watering! I'm honestly happy that somebody got...
