The Range, Washington — Local services in Sunderland

Visited a few days ago to buy some bedding. Store well laid out, lots of interesting items and a good range of products. Some excellent prices and imaginative bedding designs. Unfortunately when it came to pay staff were a let down. I asked which side of the till she wanted my items I was snarled at, "DOESN'T MATTER AT THIS TIME OF DAY DOES IT?! (It was just after 5pm and store is open late) she continued to snap at her colleagues. I tried to talk to her but was ignored. Then barked at "YOU WANT A BAG!?" I went to pay and again snapped at that, "CONTACTLESS NOT WORKING! YOU HAVE TO PUT YOUR CARD IN!" When finished shoved my receipt at me then walked off and ignored as I packed my items. This is the smallest 'The Range' I've ever been to. Whilst it still has an ok selection of stuff, it's small size means you have a much smaller selection than at a store such as that at the Metro Centre retail park, which is reflected in the 3* rating. They have tried to pack things in, but it means the aisles are pretty tight so it's rather cramped when it's as busy as it was in the pre-Christmas run up.

We popped in for things we usually can pick up easily in the larger stores, but through perhaps bad luck, this store didn't have any on display.

Store is a bit of a shambles. Cages of stock everywhere making the store hard to manoeuvre. Wrong prices on shelves so getting to the till means waiting for a member of staff to go hunting the right price down. The lack of enthusiasm for customer service is staggering. Staff standing about complaining how they haven’t been trained and comments made about how certain members of staff won’t be happy about being called to the till all make for a poor...
