New China — Restaurant in Surrey Heath

Just ordered a large takeaway for delivery from this outlet and when arrived the Crispy Shredded Chilli Chicken was soggy and very claggy and the Kung Po King Prawn dish was very bland. I had to reheat all dishes even though I am just 5 minutes from them? I called the takeaway to complain and all I was told after hearing a very clearly upset “chef” in the background that this is how the Crispy Chilli dish is and that it was cooked for long enough and it is fine to eat that way? I have had this dish from them previously and it certainly was not soggy and chewy like this. Apparently this is how it is in a set menu!! Was told that nothing could be done and I would have to try and get a refund through Just Eat. All I asked for was simply a replacement dish and even offered to send the existing one back for them to see it was a genuine complaint!!! Appalling service!! Have used New China for a long time now but just recently the food standards and service have declined which astounds me with competitors such as Hot Wok, Tops Oriental, Imperial Bridge and Chapter 5 to name just a few who all seem to have good reputations!! I wouldn’t even give the restaurant 1 star if I had a choice. Ordered a takeaway last night which came to a total of £60 roughly and we were unable to eat any of it. Whilst in the process of dishing the food, we noticed a wasp within the beef in black bean sauce (photos attached). We found the restaurant straight away to make them aware, only to be told that there was no way it could have come from them and that we planted it ourselves (baring in mind it was 8pm and raining outside- where would we have found a wasp). The lady on the phone was incredibly rude and unprofessional and there was no sign of remorse. My friend that I was with is severely allergic to wasps and therefor the whole meal went to waste. Just got home after ordering a take away, service was great, friendly and apologetic but that is to be expected when left to wait 20 mins longer than they said it would be. Now the food was awful, Hot and sour soup tasted like it had a whole bottle of vinegar added to it, completely inedible, Prawn crackers were beyond stale. Again inedible. The mixed hors d'oeuvres Ribs cold and chewy Seaweed burnt taste Spring rolls tasted off and were a gross grey colour when cut open. Prawn toast was delicious but just under £20 and all that was edible was prawn toast. I would have taken back but I don’t drive and was given a lift.

I won’t be going back! I’m now ordering from a different take away for my dinner.
