[Aug 2021] First visit post-COVID and everything as it was before. Nice Sunday roast, attentive and friendly staff. Will definitely be back. [Mar 2019] Roast lamb on a Sunday afternoon. Very nice food. Quick service. Nice atmosphere in the pub. Recommend you book, or at least phone before you travel to make sure they have a table. [Aug 2018] Visited for Sunday lunch for the first time in 2 years and am pleased to say the they still serve great food. Loads of beers on offer. Plenty of seating as they have a nice covered area outside which wasn’t there last time I visited. Possibly the best Sunday lunch in the area.

Lovely little traditional pub. Have lunched here quite a few time and have never had any issues. Service is perfect, staff are attentive and helpful. Food selection is great, prices even now are still reasonable. Food itself is delicious, chips with blue cheese is to die for 😋 Drink selection is brilliant. Lots to try and a lot of local breweries seem to have offerings here and they’re all served in lovely clean glassware. One of my favourites is the Hazy Hog cider.

The meals we had at this lovely old pub were exceptional. They have pie night on Thursday and Saturday, and the pies (4 to choose from) were sensationally good, with very generous helpings. However, it wasn't just the pies, all of our meals were excellent, the dessert too, and the host and his staff were friendly and helpful. It would be worth your while travelling any distance to try this place, and I highly recommend that you do.

Our large family group visited The Old Whestsheaf today (29th December 2023) for lunch for our Christmas meet up.

The pub itself is quite pretty and well presented but one member of staff ruined the experience.

Considering we were pretty much the only people in the pub, we could not have been made any less welcome by her and made to feeling like we were inconvenicing her by filling the restaurant.

This was the verdict of all 16 people on our table so not just my opinion.

The food was average but did all come out together and was hot.

We will 100% never return to the pub because of her attitude and next year seach another...

Visited on the 10 of May 2013. We are boarding a guide dog until July, I called and asked if we could book a table and bringing the dog. The staff said turn up about 1900-30 and should be ok. We arrived a bit before 1900 and got a table without a problem. I had a steak and my wife had the liver, I was on the IPA which was excellent, my wife tried the Noble which was very good. All members of were very helpful and welcomed us. On leaving they said Leader our guide dog was always welcome as his behavior was was excellent. We had our son arrive on Saturday with his girlfriend so we came...
