A fairly standard cafe experience and that is by no way a bad thing. Coming in on a humid July morning, we were told there would be a wait on food, but 15 minutes really isn't that bad! Coffee comes quick and hot, we ordered two lattes and honestly, it was my favourite part of the visit. Food for us this time was a bit of a mixed bag. I got the breakfast sandwich with sausage, bacon and egg, this rocks in at £3.70 + £1.40 per additional item, totally up to £6.50. This is where the 4 star comes in, the sausage is fantastic, the bacon and egg are unfortunately just a bit average. I do honestly feel that going on nearly £7, the bacon and egg need to some how be more than what they were, which was texture over flavour. The sausage though? Herby, peppery, it was standout.
My partner had Eggs on toast - it says your way but then you're told they can't do poached. So I'm assuming it's scrambled, fried or boiled. As before, mixed bag time - the bread was a fantastic, thick bloomer-style pair of slices, well toasted and soft. The eggs (scrambled) we're kind of dry and tasted heavily peppered. Rocking in at £6, it looked like two slices of toast and 2 eggs. A bit on the expensive side again.
The guy next to us had a Full English, that looked amazing, I'll be honest. At £10.50, it feels like the most fairly priced item on the menu.
I'll definitely be back for coffee and a Full English, I'm just not sold on anything else...
