The owner of this little restaurant used to run a Korean restaurant in Yuen Long, Hong Kong, which I frequently visited before emigrating to the UK because his food genuinely captured the flavours of Korea. I never expected to enjoy his dishes again, but now his restaurant is conveniently located near my home! The restaurant is small, accommodating around 15 patrons, with a simple and clean environment. Of course, the most important aspect is the quality of the food: it’s absolutely fantastic! The homemade Korean kimchi is a must-try. My wife and daughter ordered the set meal for two, and I had the bibimbap, with an additional four pieces of Korean fried chicken. The set meal includes three starters, two main courses, and two canned drinks. TJajangmyeon and beef rice were outstanding, and my daughter was thrilled to have gimbap again. As for the Korean fried chicken, it was hot, crispy on the outside, with excellent sweet and spicy, as well as soy sauce, seasonings. It was miles better than the "Korean fried chicken" at the Arndale Centre food court in the city centre. With this restaurant so close to home, I’ll definitely be a regular customer. For those living in the Greater Manchester area who love authentic Korean cuisine, this place is...
Read moreSmall korean take-away style shop near morrisons opened by chinese. Inside has around 7-8 tables that can sit around 3-4 ppl each. (tip: if you need to park, you can park at the morrisons which is like 3 mins walk away). very casual setting. Tables and stools were plastic, and the stool was a little too high for me as it made the table a bit too low. No back rest on the stools, so if you have a coat, you won't have anywhere to put it unless there's an empty stool.
We ordered the set menu, which includes all 3 of the starters mentioned on the menu (but in a smaller portion size to normal), 2 main meals of your choice, and 2 drinks.
Starter: tteokboki: nice. not as spicy as others but good. starter: fish cake soup: simple, and the flavour isn't too complex. nice contrast to the tteokboki starter: kimbap: nice, could do with a bit more flavouring but goes well with the kimchi or dipped in the tteokboki sauce. main: beef / pork bento: we got a beef and a pork, and both were nice. Beef was more sweet, and pork was more spicy. Comes with more kimchi, some pickled/blanched couegette, and some sort of shredded mooli? kimchi: the kimchi was pretty good....
Read more(拉到最下有中文廣東話comment) I want to share an unfortunate experience with everyone regarding a recent takeaway order. Around 5:39 pm, I phoned in my order, inquiring if it could be ready for self-pickup within 10 to 15 minutes. The female staff assured me it was possible, so I promptly drove to the restaurant, a drive that took approximately 10-15 minutes.
Upon arriving at the restaurant around 5:55, we were informed by the same female staff member that the last fried chicken was sold out due to a sudden order from two local customers dining in. They needed to prioritize the dine-in order, leaving us without the fried chicken we had specifically ordered over the phone first. Instead, they suggested we choose or change other dishes, which was disappointed, given that we had initially ordered the fried chicken.
Furthermore, we found that the female staff hadn't been processed at 5:39 of our order. Consequently, we had to endure an additional 25-minute wait at the restaurant, contrary to our initial expectation of a quick self-pickup and immediate departure. We finally received our takeaway at 6:20. It was disappointing not to be informed immediately about the unavailability of the fried chicken at 5:55, and a lack of synchronization in preparing other dishes when only one menu item was out of stock.
During the checkout process, the staff initially miscalculated the total amount when the fried chicken was included in the order. The expected total should have been £A (original total) - fried chicken + new item = £B. However, after three recalculations, the staff provided a total of £C, which was £10 less than the expected total. This was puzzling, as we were charged less despite the fried chicken being unavailable, resulting in an additional £2 profit for the restaurant. The calculation errors persisted even after confirming three times and were only corrected when it was discovered that an item was omitted from the order.
In reality, we anticipated a maximum self-takeaway time of 5 minutes for the food, expecting to leave promptly. However, the actual experience left us thoroughly disappointed.
In conclusion, upon returning home, we found the taste of the food to be average, especially for the rice and noodle dishes. Unfortunately, due to hunger and time constraints, we forgot to take photos to share.
I hope the restaurant can enhance its service and communication to provide a more enjoyable experience for customers.
