Unfortunately, our experience at Vault 2 Bar & Bistro was very disappointing. This was our second visit, but our first time trying the food. On our initial visit, we were turned away from an almost-empty restaurant due to the lack of a chef — an inconvenience we accepted, deciding to give it another chance. However, our second visit on New Year’s Eve for breakfast left us frustrated.
The restaurant had only four occupied tables, including ours. Upon arrival, there was no warmth in the welcome — we were not greeted until we approached staff ourselves, only to be told to sit anywhere except the booth. After choosing a table, it took around 10 minutes before our order was taken, despite no visible reason for the delay.
We ordered: A full English breakfast with poached egg Smoked salmon with poached egg French toast (to share) Two flat whites Water
Sadly, the food was not up to standard. The poached eggs were overcooked and solid, not soft as expected. The flat whites resembled lattes, lacking the right strength and balance. Despite mentioning that we would share the French toast, no extra cutlery was provided. Staff didn’t check on us once after serving, and there was no opportunity to order additional drinks. Instead, they sat in a booth doing admin work, making them feel unapproachable. The atmosphere was lifeless.
Despite spending over an hour and a half there for a simple breakfast, the service was minimal, yet we were charged a 10% service fee. This felt unjustified and a little underhand, especially since there was no clear mention of it on the menu.
While we prefer to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt, this experience left us certain we won’t return. We’ll happily stick with Café Plus, which we visited when Vault 2 couldn’t accommodate us the first time. The presentation may be simpler, but the service and quality are leagues ahead — the staff are friendly, and the food is...
Read moreWent for breakfast, lady was really lovely, 10/10 for service nothing was too much bother, the food was ok. I had a flattened steak served with eggs and hash browns, eggs were overcooked would have been nice if runny, the steak wasn’t rested at all, so left everything else soggy on plate, the hash brows were really greasy and the inside wasn’t cooked properly. It’s a shame because it looked rushed where as if more time had been taken I think would have been a much better dish. My mum had 1 small cooked breakfast which she really enjoyed her egg was perfect she wasn’t keen on the sausage but again I think every differs in sausages. They also allowed my mum to order a kids breakfast as she has a medical condition that won’t allow her to eat big meals, and they were accommodating with no hassle, so we was impressed with that. We had a coffee and peach ice tea. Both fab! There wasn’t really any atmosphere and no background music on low or anything. We paid £22 which was fare tbh. Oh and please swap to salted butter or have a choice of both. Would I go back again! Yes I would, I’d like to try out some more of the menu and some of your cocktails.
I’m just going to leave my edit here as I can’t reply to your comment. I left a fare review with 4 stars. There certainly was no background noise I have no reason to say otherwise. My review is a true reflect of the morning we entered. Having just read back through the other reviews and your reply’s I guess you can’t accept anything other than perfect. Then I guess you take that up with your staff rather than...

Building & decoration are lovely, music and atmosphere great, staff friendly. Service was very slow, I think start to finish we were in there about 1.5 hours just to order, eat, and pay right after.
First ordered drinks - out of tea. Peach iced tea and hot chocolate was delicious.
Food - we ordered 2 of the steak, a full breakfast, veggie breakfast, and French toast. No meat delivery, so no steak or sausage, not their fault I know. Changed our order to 1 full breakfast (with veg sausage), veg breakfast and the French toast. Wife had her heart set on steak so didn't eat.
We received 2 full breakfasts instead of a veggie, suggesting either the chef didn't read the order or doesn't keep / prepare veggie products separately, which is a concern for vegetarians.
The homemade hash browns were hugely disappointing lumps of grease. Toast was very lightly toasted. Everything else otherwise seemed to a really high standard.
When we came to pay, they tried to charge us for an extra breakfast, which when pointed out they apologised, corrected, and gave us 10% off the bill.
My parents felt very messed about and dont wish to return, but I appreciate the place is new and would like to give them another chance once they have...
